I've yet to get really interested in MMM and this does intrigue me. If its fun, moderately difficult, and offers decent rewards, it may become a nice pastttime activity.

    But this is SE....

My Goblin's Codpiece is bigger then your goblin's codpiece!!!

Then again, I've not done MMM in months, and I doubt this will change it.

If Nimble Nelson is too hard, you could always try adding Motion rune in addition to Beast and Tiny Warrior to get Gorib, the Coeurl. Beast + Tiny Warrior + Stillness results in Sparky Sam, another Rarab, although I don't know how different this is from Nelson.

There is also a combination that no one seems to know about yet which is Beast + Tiny Warrior + Great Warrior, which may result in some other NM (Drops potentially would be Ermines Tail and Gnole Torque).

What about Aquan, Amorphs, Birds, or Undead and Arcana, or Demons and Dragons? Do those have a Liquidation Team NM?

I'm glad this is out early, because they usually save the best for last. Or at least, the changes that have the biggest effect for last.

If this was patch day material, it'd be a pretty weak update.

(Not to mention that some of the HNMs in MMM are potentially stronger than quite a few of the HNMs wandering around Vana'diel.) It would be nice if the player base would open up their minds and try something different instead of blanketly disregarding new content becuase it isn't "hard core" enough for them. (And only people who never fought Kuno's rabbit destroyer of worlds would say that MMM isn't hard core.)
If people bothered to try things like MMM and out of the way, rarely done (read: level capped) ANNMs I might still be playing, but SE felt like there shouldn't be good carrots on the ends of those sticks so you can't motivate the phat loot focused MMO gamers to play them.

Then tomorrow, should you decide to do this run again, you'll start over with a level 1 goblin again. It's not like a fellow that you're building up over multiple sessions.
I got the impression it was a fellow. If it is then this is the best update ever. If it isn't then fuck this shit.

Nope. The only family runes compatible with Voucher 07 are Beast, Plantoid, Lizard and Vermin. The others are greyed out.

I wouldn't mind seeing them make use of those runes for another NM voucher, but have some different way of killing them. Some kind of puzzle or maybe something similar to voucher 06.

How about this. One NM lurking around the field, with lots of other mobs flans, dolls, etc wandering around depending on family. All are aggressive to players. Dotted around the map are goblin controllers or something and bringing them back to the goblin will make a lesser mob start attacking the main NM to defeat. The main NM probably has too much HP to be defeated with a party of 6 or maybe the finding the controllers weaken the NM like the CoP dynamis structure of taking out a lesser NM. Maybe this is too complex though.

Edit: Maybe something simpler like the Nyzul Isle objective Eliminate specified enemies, but more rewards for anything else in the maze you kill too.

I personally think having a Gob buddy will be awesome. Everyone still gets a kick of out it when I summon my Goblin using my HQ Gobbie hat when we are at events.

I like MMM, this'll be interesting.

I'm kinda interested in it being solo. People could MMM without having to get a static or shout for a party.

I don't see how the nerfed marble farming from last patch "wrecked" MMM. Sure, it sucks that they did it, it was better before, and I don't see why it needed to change, but marble-farming was always the means to an end anyway, to get to NM mazes or exp mazes, and those never had good marble awards to begin with. The only difference is that now a group starting from scratch has to do twice as much farming to get to the good mazes (so 4-5 weeks instead of 2-3), and that's only if they don't just leech off Duplidoc. Anyone who was doing MMM before the patch should be barely effected by it, too, since you'd likely have obtained all your "essential" runes and were just using new marbles to buy crap like "Fire," "Volubility," and "Prospector" anyway.

As far as casual content goes, MMM was and remains pretty well designed. It had decent items to start, solo content and party content, you can do it pretty much on your own time, and so far they seem interested in continuing to add new stuff to it, which covers basically all the complaints that people have about events like this. The only big complaint was the shitty drop rate off NM runs, but that's universal across FFXI, and they even improved that in the last patch with the CC chest.

This new voucher sounds strange, but I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes, and I can understand people crying here if they never do MMM and would have preferred an announcement about new avatars or whatever, but what would a version update preview thread be without people crying anyway?

Yes yes...in all the history of game design, the "Escort quest" is most certainly the epitome of quest design. A flawless combination of superior AI design and balanced game mechanics that creates an experience that is completely unmatched by HEY WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU WALKING RIGHT INTO THOSE MOBS?!?!?

Disappointing that they are not adding new NMs to Voucher 07. Demon, Dragon, Arcana and Aquan NMs with more drops would have been far more exciting than a new voucher because we have 7 vouchers already and a few of them could use incentives.

Voucher 04 for example was labeled as a way to skillup crafts but it ends up being a roundabout minigame that you can only attempt once a day and the skillup isn't worth wasting your once a day charge. Why couldn't you gain actual levels when the system caps you at 60 anyway?

Voucher 06 seems to have the potential to match farming Voucher 01 pre-nerf but what's the big deal if you wanted 07 loot? You can Duplidoc mazes now and farm most of the common NMs (Tanihwa/Purushamriga/Nelson) anyway.

Anyways, SE should have refined our current vouchers before throwing out another voucher but maybe this escort wont suck.

In addition to Beast, Plantoid, Lizard, and Vermin, there are also the elemental NMs, right? Could be a good target for a BLM party, perhaps. Although I have seen next to no information on their drops. Do they even have anything good?
