Need AssaultPoints for Salvage, T2 available only

I hope this belongs in this section. Otherwise sorry about it and feel free to move it elsewhere.

I have been playing ffxi for quite some time before I took a few years break. I basicaly missed the assaults train and am now stuck at T2. I just joined a Salvage set and I need to keep up with my assaults points in order not to fail to my set.

What are my options to

1) get somewhat decent assaults points
2) do only assault I can safely go to with randoms
3) is available with T2 (T3 soonish tho).

I have NIN SAM RNG WAR BRD jobs.

Golden Salvage: Sub PUP (level 1 is ok, check out the other wiki for PUP solo guides), find 2 slaves, go (T1)
Lamia 13: sub RDM/be RDM for Dispel, find 2 more similar, go (T2), low/rare resists from Dispel on this one, a friend of mine goes WAR/RDM with a Dark Staff.

Well, you'll obviously want ones that aren't hard to trio.

Probably the (usually) shortest ones to do would be the first two Ilrusi Atoll Assaults, Golden Salvage and Lamia 13.

Both of those can technically be soloed (you'd probably use BRD/SMN or BRD/RDM, respectively), though bringing in others of the right jobs would just make them easier.

Those net 1100 (Golden Salvage) or 1200 (Lamia 13) per run with 3 people. If you need strategy I could give it, but they're both detailed on the wiki too.

While they do take longer, Orichalcum Survey and Excavation Duty are also both easily trio'ed. The latter you'd want a couple BLMs or /BLMs though. Just don't be surprised if these take 20+ minutes to do. They give 1200 and 1100 points, respectively, so if you're just doing it for points, then going with the typically faster runs makes more sense.

Another way to go might be with the simple "kill a bunch of stuff" ones (Leujaoam Cleansing, Preemptive Strike, Requiem). These only net 1000 points for a trio, but you can get a little XP as well.

Once you get rank 3 I'd say to consider Saving Private Ryaaf as well. It's very easy if utilizing the info on the wiki.

IMO, your safest/best bet is probably Lamia 13. Dispel charm from the NPCs and let them do the work, never act directly on the Lamia. Easy stuff. Just may want to keep other options in mind in case people you wind up going with want points from other areas or something.

As annoying as it is, in my personal opinion you're better off postponing Salvage for a bit. I'd wanted to start Salvage for quite some time, but I decided to build a 6-man assault static and just power through every assault. It only delayed Salvage by a couple of weeks, which for an event like Salvage isn't very much time at all, and not only do I have quite a large store of points, but I've got access to RvB.

Assuming you're in it for the long haul with salvage the best thing you can do for yourself is get SL as soon as possible. There's nothing better than sapamming red vs. blue for 1600 a tag. Try sticking with assaults you've never done before. You get bonus AP for first time as well as 5 rank points. It may be a pain force rank ups right now but getting 1:1 tag/permit ratio is well worth it.

Lamia No. 13 is probably the easiest of the really low assaults. Go as BRD and get two other people that can cast Dispel (RDM, BLM/RDM, whatever). There are 3 NPCs that the Lamia repeatedly charms, you just each pick a particular NPC, stand back, and whenever the AOE charm move goes off, you each dispel your NPC. If any of the NPCs get hurt, cure them. Do not buff them, as that will make it so that there are things other than charm that you might dispel. It's extremely boring, and takes about 20 minutes if you let the NPCs do all the damage (which is safest), but it's basically impossible to lose.

However, if you're not doing enough Salvage to use all your points constantly, I would definitely try to spend some of your tags ranking up, because you'll go mad spamming Lamia No. 13. It's not very hard to rank up, almost all assaults are very winnable with 3-4 people. I was in basically the same situation as you, took a year and nine months off from the game, and came back being way behind on Assault (I was Superior Private, I believe). Made a 4-person static and we ranked up to Second Lieutenant within a few weeks. You also come out of it with quite a few assault points, because of the 50% bonus for beating one for the first time. If you do some research on all the assaults it's generally not hard to figure out a strategy to beat them with 3 or 4. If you want information on doing any particular ones with a low number of people, feel free to ask.

Your MetalGearSolid Fu needs some improvement. Building Bridges is extraordinarily easy for someone who pays attention and knows how to avoid "aggro". The advent of sprinter shoes makes it even more so. Hint: use a job which has radar and watch it more than you watch your character.

if your job is rdm then try to get to T3 and spam saving private ryaan.

you can solo that , just ask any 2 other people to come any job and AFK @ start.
read the guide on wiki to get the sheet of where the NPCs are. and basically sleepga chigoes talk to NPC > run to next room etc. with enough practice it will take you 5-10min for each tag.

golden savage: all you need is three level 50+ people , one having access to range attack, one having ustsusemi ichi or blink /skin... pretty minimum requirements. have the /nin guy aggro, and range guy range attack chests from max range to depop them ( they wont be able to draw in if you are at max).

Honestly, I find it a lot easier subbing SCH for Lamia 13 on just about any job. Anything without native Enfeebling skill /RDM gets resists fairly often. Getting a few in a row can fuck someone over. Dark arts will cap your skill for you, though. I've never seen a resist on Cor/Sch (lazy, dispel is free), Mnk/Sch, Pld/Sch or whatever else I bring when I'm too lazy to change to Whm/Sch or just use Dark shot.

Agree with this.

With the 1st time 1.5x bonus, almost every assault will give at least 1200~1300ish, usually more.

You should be able to get at least one rank up per week, while keeping up with AP, and this will also get you very close to captain rank.

SCH can dispelga and then cure the two DD while they pummel lamia 13. Dead in 5 mins or your money back.


Dont have access to SCH? do RDM BRD 1 DD. can get 2 rdm instead of BRD if you want
