Wow if I wasn't already psyched about Blazblue I was just looking around on the Dustloop forums (if you played Guilty Gear you're probably familiar with this site) and they had a link to NOPE review, which is a whopping 9.4. Say what you will about reviews from the major sites, but a straight up 2D fighter getting a 9.4 is damn impressive, considering SF IV got a 9.3

aside from FFXIV and Peace Walker this is the only game I'm currently looking for: despite being developed on PS2 it's leaps and bounds better than the allegedly "next-gen" Playstation 3 counterparts (aka lolFIFA and lolPES), the series is so good I haven't even gotten bored of the 2008 version yet (for those who are wondering, yes, it does feature the most prominent european and south american clubs as well).

Pretty sure Winning Eleven is the Japanese name for ProEvo.

And unless they get over their 8-way direction thing they're not going to catch up to FIFA since it feels choppy by comparison when players only have 8 directions of motion.
Sad as I was FIFA 09 beats the latest ProEvo and it plays a good game.

These are the main 2 for me as well. Also looking forward to Metroid Trilogy since I never bought the 3rd one.

BlazBlue: Didn't know about this til a couple months ago and it reminded me of Darkstalkers which I liked. I'd also heard good things about Guilty Gear even though I never played it. Once I saw the Limited Edition version with all the bonus stuff I ended up preordering it online from GameStop (I wanted the Art Book!) for PS3.

Professor Layton: Loved the first game, definitely getting all the sequels.

Besides the PS3 version is developed by a completely different team and has been nothing but underwhelming ever since the next-gen jump.

I've heard the WE series plays a faster pace than ProEvo, never played a WE game myself. That said ProEvo's always been closer to a sim than EA's arcade style efforts. EA has caught up in the last few years though.

I will agree that the ProEvo series has been underwhelming since the PS3/360 jump though. Seems stuck in a rut and the current engine/playstyle is showing its age on next-gen systems. If they sort it out they should be able to win the King of the Footy games crown back.

    Finally Professor Layton 2!!!

So they finally settled on calling it 'Professor Layton & The Diabolical Box' it's gone from The Devil's Box (straight translation from JP name) to Pandora's Box since I've been following it's progress.

Little King's Story needs more love. It's like Pikmin... only more RPG-ish, with country building and its supposedly like 40 hours long. I know I'm picking that one up.

I also hear Inifinite Space is freaking amazing. Space fleet combat with tons of strategy.

That's about it, someone let me know if I missed anything.

Personally I'll probably pick up Darksiders day 1 if it gets at least semi-decent reviews, although it seems like the kind of game that will drop in price pretty quickly. Professor Layton is a must play for me as well, as is (maybe) Flower, Sun & Rain. For whatever reason I'm not really looking forward to Dissidia but that might change when I start to hear people talk about it more. I'll be following I Am Alive as well. Other than that I'm not overly thrilled about that much stuff coming out, which I guess is a good thing considering I still have an assload of games on my backlog.

What are you most looking forward to? What are you going to pick up day 1? What looks promising?
I would have expected you to have known this since you have been talking with me some about darksiders, and E3 was just a few weeks ago where they announced the offical release date, but they pushed it back to January 1st.

For myself, The only thing I see I want this summer is wolfenstein and it'll probably get pushed back, the rest of my stuff is coming in the fall, Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed 2, Red Dead Redemption, Uncharted 2, Brutal Legend, Splinter Cell, Sabateour(sp), Demon's Soul and borderlands.
