Honestly, I've used my Hauteclaire so few times since I got it. It's pretty, but it has very limited uses for PLD. I don't understand why do people QQ over gimps having one so much, it's not like it's an awesome sword or anything.

If you don't need hauteclaire to reliably stay alive, Joyeuse will generate significantly better hate over time. There are very few situations where you need hauteclaire to reliably stay alive, as such, Joyeuse is a better weapon.

AF Body should not be on except for Waltzes. Weapon Skills are either Etoile Casaque/Mirke Wardecors/Assault Jerkin/Scorpion Harness.
You don't TP in EVA gear, especially in Dynamis.

It's a nice sword, it has it's uses, but it's generally highly overrated, probably because it can be a bitch to get, and that automatically makes it best in some peoples minds.

So if it's town gear only, would you be for the idea that PLD and DRK share equal priority when it comes to lotting? Cause, if it's only use is town gear, then both jobs should be able to lot right?

point for point dex will ALWAYS beat strength for SAed mercy stroke and agi will ALWAYS beat it for TA, as DE is a better freestyle WS there's not all too much point in even owning a STR set, much less using it

fstr is equal to a ~25% mod and caps, while the DEX mod is uncapped.. the 2.5 attack isn't going to push it ahead either, sry

You would be right about str beating dex on mercy stroke if it had no str mod. But with a 60% str mod and 3x Damage Multiplier, you would need at least 1.5 dex to beat 1 str and thats assuming your fstr is capped as well.

DEX and AGI added from SA and TA do not benefit from fTP so since Mercy Stroke has 3.0 fTP, +1fSTR/WSC is basically equal to 3 DEX. Since STR is effectively adding to both fSTR and WSC (at a very rapid rate to both), it'll take a lot of DEX to beat out the STR.
