Its not impossible, I have a friend that got invited to it by her friend that work at SE, but since I quit FFXI I can't ask whether that beta started yet :3 Apparently all SE Japan employees got 5 betas each to hand out.

I suppose I could reactivate the whole thing and log in to ask whether it started or not >.O

I am not believing anything anyone says about their friend's milkman's dog's beta invite until I see cold, hard screenshots.

Well, all we'll have to live by is rumors, as I assume screenshots would get them sued rather fast :3

Either way, friend said it has started. Take it for what you will. Personally I don't think it matters until they release a public beta that I can attend, anything beyond that just makes me happy that its progressing.

Yes, take it with a grain of salt. However, there is a such thing as Friends/Family only testing. Blizzard does it in regards to their alpha/early beta builds.

Anyone quit recently or gotten lazy with their character since the announcement of FFXIV?
i hear alot of people are taking it easy now until FFXIV (getting back to their real life lol) Since basically the release of FFXIV will downgrade the population of FFXI.

Most have said if majority of their friends move they will too
any of you have the same approach?

I quit about 6 months(March 2009) ago(Considering going back to talk about FFXIV and getting my good friends all on one server.) I had did all i want too i could of sold my account but i figured i would go back one day.(like now). Even tho i put a hard 7 years into FFXI the announcement of FFXIV was like a Fresh cup of tea (not to sound gay) i was so rejuvenated that i ran outside screaming (no im not a nerd) i was hoping one would be coming out soon.

I'm sure it has to do more with other games and not just FFXIV. Shit, MW2 came out. I know a lot of people that pretty much dropped everything they were doing and went balls out in that. I quit in Oct of 08 for school, so yea, lots of factors for people quitting/taking it easy.

Also, the quitting rate correlates to relic obtaining rate. :3

Two of my friends still play it. However, they've toned it down quite a lot. They used to play it religiously. I even told one of my friends to sell all his shit and never look back.

i actually plan to pickup MW2 around Christmas time but im debating or whether to start saving up money for FFXIV subscription. not 13 anymore so cant depend on parents CC -_-.
21 years old now OMG does this mean i have to work! /dies

but yea Ive talked with a few recent friends from FFXI and the have all settled down in terms of play time. Some quit, some toned down, some went to play other games until FFXIV starts.
