    Quick question, since I know nothing about how internal mechanics work on a chainsaw.

    If the chain *breaks*. Is there a chance it can fly off the bar and come at you?

    Chain Catcher

    The chain catcher helps prevent the chain being thrown back towards the user, if the chain breaks or becomes derailed.

    Rear Hand Guard

    The Rear hand guard protect the users right hand from being struck by a snapped or derailed chain. It also allows the rear of the saw to be held down by the operator's boot for starting. This is especially useful for cold engines, and larger (70cc+) saws.

    Yup, it'll usually kick out at the bottom and come towards you, but most saws have a safety device at the sprocket and handle that'll catch the chain before it hits you.
