I doubt Shantotto's reward will be a weapon. It wouldn't be a terrible issue for mages, but melees would be screwed; there'd be no single weapon that would satisfy everyone on a skill basis. To be fair, they'd have to allow you to pick any kind of weapon, and there's no way they're coming out with 13-plus new models for the weapons, and there's no way they're doing that for a mini-expansion. They could use pre-existing models (and i wouldn't put that past them), but that wouldn't fit their mini-expansion pattern.Originally Posted by Guppy
If it follows the pattern, there would be 3 choices; 1 for "heavy" melee classes; 2 for "light" melee classes; and 1 for mages. Thus far, it's been on slots not already covered by rewards from previous expansions; so no rings, earrings, etc. It would be visible armor, so that leaves hands, legs and feet. My money is also on legs as it's the most visible of the three. And there will be moaning and groaning about the story and missions, and everyone will buy it anyway for the rewards.

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, and I'm not reading through 9 pages to confirm this, but I'm very disappointing at the lack of music on this add-on's page.
Not sure if the ACP page music was new, but It was like a mix between sky and CoP's theme, very cool.
I cannot figure out what would be good for my Paladin. I don't have much haste gear, so losing haste on my head piece would hurt me. I rarely have bard songs, and I don't always have haste cast on me.
The DD options are very tempting, but maybe it would be best to just get haste +3, haste+2 and str+2 for a better looking walmart hat with +2str on it.
I guess I found a good asuran piece at long last...
+25 accuracy and so forth on the weapon skill is rather nice.
Kind of makes one sigh though due to the look of the piece, like mirke, in comparison to the other armors, and having worked quite hard to get a Usukane Somen already.
Albeit I am assuming 3% haste still makes the usukane somen nice as a general tp piece.
The augments seem rather nice this time, a good deal of them boosting not things in one area but two.
I think in my gut... the str 4, 15 ws acc, 10 acc, 5 att is the way to go. The other choices for NIN, COR and SMN are lackluster. My DRK will appreciate the huge acc boost and it may possibly give me more options on HNM type mobs (other than just Spinning Slash).
COR: I know in my gut I'd still miss Slug Shot far too often even with that head
Of course... haste +3, 10 acc, 5 att... looks very tempting too.
I'm torn:
PLD: Vit+4 Shield +5 / Magic Damage taken -2% Enmity +4
DRK: STR+4 WS Acc+15 / STR+2 Haste or Dex +4 Crit +2% (I dont know!!) Edit: or Agi +4 WS damage +2%.. FK me... what should I do? lol
BLM: INT +4 Magic Acc +2 / INT +2 Fast Cast +2% or Magic Crit +10%
Enmity -4 (I dont know!! /cry)
I've been trying to come up with a list of the various options for my jobs, so I can think about which one I'm going to get. In my opinion the "right" choice for PLD augments seems to be:
- VIT+4, Shield Skill+5
- Enhances "Fast Cast" effect (+3%), "Blood Pact" ability delay-3
Note that this is not a full-time piece, you shouldn't use this to replace your turban when casting Ni/Flash/etc or anything like that. This should be swapped in for PLD/NIN Ichi casting, with other shield skill gear. This is definitely better than a Koenig Schaller for that purpose, especially with the Counter+3% on the base headpiece. As any MNK can tell you, countering a hit while casting Ichi is amazing.
I'm not sure that I'll get this over the Asuran Fists headpiece or some of the other options yet, but it does seem to be the best PLD option, if that's what you're looking for.
Edit: I've seen multiple people mention the Magic Damage-2% option, is this better than Iron Ram Sallet somehow? I thought that MDef+3 was better than Damage-2%? Sallet has more MDef, more HP, and more Enmity, not sure why you would use this piece for that purpose.
So what job would benefit more from this stuff, Thf or War?

Easily the best Ws helm for Sam & Rng now? 2% Dmg should out perform 2 Str & 8 Atk, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Oh, my bad at reading that wrong. Yeah, the accuracy and attack would let my PUP eat meat/attack food even more comfortably than I do now. I'll stick with my somen for TP.
And hey, that subtle blow+3 is a very nice addition as well to help control TP.
But when would you be SAM/RNG using Sidewinder? ACP final fight? <_>

opinions on whether getting the heavy DD WS setup would outwiegh using full ares on guillotine? i'm 2/3 on ares head (damn you,deviant bhoot...) and am leaning towards the 5% haste set. before pizza it would have been a lot more clear cut for me but now, that accuracy seems like overkill in most situations.
Can someone better at game formulas please figure out if a hat can be made to outperform N. head on THF, even situationally?
I'm thinking DEX +4/Crit Hit Dmg +2% with either STR +4/WS ACC +15 for stand-alone DE and SA+DE, or AGI +4/WS DMG +2% for SATA+WS. I also have COR, so STR/WS ACC with AGI/WS DMG could also be viable, though AF+1 is pretty good as well.
