Faction Changing

Just have them all start at neutral rep, unless the rep is shared between factions. Changing factions is a good enough hand out(buy out?) on its own. I will gladly bring my allie lock over to be with my horde guild, rep or not. It's not like they haven't made a recent daily hub designed to plow through faction rep anyway.

The only thing I see that is at all complicated is mounts.

I always thought creating quests to switch factions and become a traitor would be kind-of cool in a way. Of course, I knew it was never going to happen but now with both factions becoming kind of 'carebear' and less racist/racial, I could almost see it as a possibility.

Lolwhut? Have you been paying attention at all to the storyline of the game? Tensions between the factions are at an all-time high, not low. It's highly probable that Cataclysm could be more PVP oriented at this rate.

Okay, so the King of Stormwind is very aggressive/angry at the Horde e.t.c. but really nothing has happened yet and nothing really has been escalating, maybe a new BG popped up (Conquest Isle). But still the racial boundaries between the 2 factions are falling apart and both of the factions interact and even work for/ally with the counter races, opening up the possibility for a 'Betrayal' questline.

When I said carebear, I really meant it's very common now to see both factions work together for a goal that both want done, and thus it feels like the bitter hatred that existed between the two has faded.

A lot of the hatred Varian Wrynn has for the horde is tucked away in novels and comic books, and unfortunately it did not translate well to the in-game lore they jammed in last november when people started clearing Wrathgate. But fo' reals, relationships between the Horde/Alliance have never been worse. WotLK is the most Orc vs. Humans gameplay we've ever seen in WoW. Shame it's come at the cost of any relevance for the other races in the game :D

Except blizz updates are 20x the content for free. This is the only pay to use addition in 3.2, and it's understandable why. It takes up actual manhours for blizzard employees to do the race change/transferring for people.

As for the carebear thing, only Wrynn seems to have any real hatred left. Thrall wants peace, and saurfang the younger and the pally dude seemed pretty chummy at the wrathgate.

This. Especially the Sylvanas part. Blizzard is already trashing a lot of the lore from Warcraft III, but if they don't include Sylvanas in Arthas' death, my mind will be blown.
