past exploits were exactly the same thing. made an unkillable mob very killable. so it's very equal to what ensidia did. the yogg exploit is not even a 'huge exploit' .. infact, they didn't have to do anything ridiculous to bug the encounter. it was just a simple concept, but the other ones you actually had to go out of your way and use terrain and other things which are clearly bigger exploits

This whole thing is just dumb. The devs need to fix the encounter, or strip every piece of loot/titles from Ensidia since they did the flower power hodir kill. Or, Exo should keep their titles/gear/mount and they need to publicly announce that their encounter is broken.

Is there a place to read up on these old exploits?

There are a ton of them, some minor and inconsequential others not so much, allow me to chronicle the ones I'm familiar with.

"Kiting to Vael's Room" - This one took place in BWL, vael's room was basically the second major room inside of the instance which housed a red dragon named vael who you had to kill to gain access to the rest of the instance. Early on in BWL a lot of the bosses after vael were really hard, dragging them to vael's room caused many of their abilities to just stop functioning turning them into nothing more than punching bags that punched back. The phrase itself is a meme among oldschool raiders, as kiting to vael's room is synonymous with exploiting.

    Standing on Torches -
There were little torches up along the sides of the walls in the Eredar Twins' room that you could stand on, elevating you slightly off the ground and causing the shadowfiend adds that are spawned by Ayathess to evade and not do anything. This was particularly helpful because the adds did shadowfury which would stun all of the healers repeatedly causing a tank death.

Vashj - She had a bug where she'd go to 1hp while resetting if you wiped in phase 3. It takes a little explaining, in phase 2 you had to do some magic to destroy 4 pillars around her knocking off 5% of her hp each time, when you wiped she'd go back to phase 2 for a short time, then the pillars would destroy themselves so if she was at under 20% hp when you wiped she'd briefly go to 1% hp at which point you could soulstone and kill her with shadow word death or something, see this screenshot (note there is one dead vashj and one live vashj).
    http://www.pici.se/pictures/JFqWzDqqr.jpg

C'thun/Oozeling - I had to look this one up but this is definitely something that looks like it would have worked.

In the worst kept secret in the game department, there's an exploit involving the rare non-combat pet oozling. As part of its cute properties, the oozling casts a minor debuff on you. Sounds harmless, right? Well, the thing is that you can make a macro that activates the oozling quickly thirty-two times, summoning and dismissing it in rapid succession. Doing so so quickly, you end up with 16 oozling debuffs on you, which pushes off any other debuff on you. Priest and warlock dots on you? Gone. Mortal Strike on you? Gone. Crippling poison? Gone.

The biggest place where this comes into play is on the C'Thun encounter. During phase 2 of the encounter, people get swallowed up into C'Thun's belly. Inside the belly, there are two tentacles that you have to kill to make C'Thun vulnerable to attack outside. However, when you're inside the stomach, you get a stacking dot that gradually ramps up to the point that it would kill you very quickly, so normally players who get swallowed only get a short time to lay as much damage on the tentacles as possible before they have to leave the stomach. However, someone with the oozling can just knock off the stomach acid debuff, stay in the stomach indefinitely, burn through the tentacles in rapid succession, and make the C'Thun encounter almost trivial for the people outside the stomach as C'Thun goes vulnerable far more often than he would normally.

You could kite Freya trash into Hodir's room and spellsteal the buff during the fight for extra dps.

Let the mages in their raid do 40k DPS each. I'd call that an exploit just like the bone shield/IA, but damn it sucks I can't do it =p.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF what is the bone shield one lol. I don't know of any exploits except the DK one where if you are dual specced frost for tanking and you have frost aura talented, you can switch to your dps aura in it (you get an hp boost) and activate your dps talent and keep the HP bonus. Was kinda nice, but gone now Q_Q

25 man bone shield was like 1.3m dmg absorb and spellstealable, I'm sure you can figure it out from there.

Warriors had famous glitches when expansion patches it. Rampage bug at the onset of BC got a lot of people banned (people one-shotting Hakkar and Nightmare Dragons), and at WotLK launch you used to be able to Spec into Titan's Grip and then remove the talent points from it when respeccing and the offhand wouldn't fall off.

    Really?
Actually, a bug report was filed right as the kill happened. What, do you honestly think Ensidia would have REALLY gone and said "well damn guys, that's obviously not intended, let's wipe the raid". No, they would have done the exact same thing - killed it and claimed a world first and then opened a bug report.

It's painfully obvious that Blizzard watches the top US/EU guilds (they've actually admitted to this), but it's also hilarious at how they take sides. How many similar exploits have Ensidia utilized in Ulduar alone and not gotten touched? After 4 years, bleeding edge guilds tended to all silently believe that they had a sort of immunity to this kind of bullshit since they're literally a live testing force for new content. Guess nowadays that only holds true for one particular guild.

No, the fight has not been nerfed in any way, shape, or form (other than what has already been posted by blues). Phase 3 is still incredibly insane--perhaps too insane. We were INCREDIBLY lucky on the kill attempt. No random bugs involved--just a combination of incredible execution and luck granted by the gods.
Phase 3 is still, in this humble bear's personal opinion, grossly overtuned. I very, very, VERY highly doubt we will repeat it.
People wouldn't be so pissed off with you little bitches if you hadn't flat out lied about it. At least Ensidia had the decency to let everyone know that their Hodir kill wasn't legit and to disregard it as a world first.

If i'm not mistaken, didn't Blizzard make Hodir impossible AFTER he had already been beaten? Anyways, it's irrelevant, flower power made the fight barely beatable, hence why he was patched afterwards. The Yogg-Saron exploit avoided fighting anything whatsoever. Even with flower power you had to beat Hodir in time.

Little bitches? What are you Ensidia's cheerleader or somethin? They came across a glitch, and like was said, it's stupid to assume "omg guys, glitch! wipe!" fuck that.

A glitch is a glitch. Don't try to pass one off as acceptable and the other not. Neither guild is guiltless in this. Both were in the wrong, and it's painfully obvious to everyone else you're playing favorites.

What has that got to do with Ensidia? I called them little bitches because they posted on the official WoW forums saying that they were "lucky and flawless". Obviously they weren't if they actually did in fact submit a bug report.

Skadi has a slight glitch where you can get past him without setting off the event making the achievements extremely easy. If you discover this glitch, no, you won't wipe and say "guys this is wrong" but when you're fighting an unbeatable mob and you're one of the top guilds in the world it's pretty safe to assume that you will be found out and will most likely be punished.

I didn't say what Ensidia did was right nor justified, just that because of those reasons Blizzard decided what they did wasn't worth a ban. Besides, spellstealing isn't exactly an exploit. It doesn't necessarily break anything, whereas evading 40 mobs clearly is broken and unintended.
