this, sure cor isn't going to match a drg or sam's dmg but I find most good cor can push about 1/3~2/3 the dmg of real DD in a cor brd mage 3x DD pt and only a fool would write off that much damage sitting there for unneeded healing, unless your rdm[or whm] sucks.

Maybe I'm totally misunderstanding you, Gunslinger. Really, it's very possible. But I'll give you an analogy:

A COR subbing WHM over DNC is like a RDM subbing SMN for auto-fresh over WHM.

A Cor/Whm has less healing potential than /Dnc (Assuming you're staying standing to help with sleeps, since that's all you're using your gun for if anything at all). Any half-decent COR75 can reach 15%+ haste in gear, coupled with a wide array of Double/Triple attacking weapons, our TP gain is ridiculous. If the party actually *needs* the additional support, you'll be able to keep up much better /Dnc than /Whm. If the party actually *doesn't* need the support and you're sitting on the TP, you still have the option to fire off some slugs and not worry about not having TP when it counts.

I don't blame you for disliking the general rage that's flung at Cor/Whm, I really don't. It must look like an e-peen contest, but I can assure you it isn't. I know I'll never match my PLMSAM or BBMNK in merits with my COR. But COR is easily, without a doubt, the single most expensive job in the game. When done right (spamming shots with meritted timers, DD'ing, using Barrage /RNG), the inventory and gil needs are extreme. It pisses us off when we put in all that effort/gil and people still try and glorify lazy-asses who sit there /WHM and don't even fire off their QDs.

Remember that bitching/moaning thread about how dualboxed BRDs are functionally equal to pimp BRDs? Same shit. Except, we actually *DO* have a HUGE difference in performance, that people like you ignore anyways.

Edit: This is entirely in reference to Merits, and I gladly go COR/Mage to events where I won't be able to Melee for TP.

Edit2: Melee or shoot, idc. /mage for when TP'ing is impossible, and dmg is QD only.

Yeah, I think you misunderstand me. And I do realize that a well-played and well-geared cor is a huge step up from a run-of-the-mill cor that you pick up LFP, so people 'like me' certainly do not ignore it.

I never advocated going /whm so you can sit on your thumbs, if anything it can be more demanding than /rng or /war if you're staying on top of your normal duties + assisting with statuses/cures. I'm also not saying cors should only sub whm (in fact, I've gone out of my way to say IT'S SITUATIONAL), so it's not like I don't get the appeal of /rng or /war. I do, however, think it's absofuckinglutely retarded to say you're never going to sub /whm for merits.

About the same thing as firing off slugs as /whm honestly, unless you really need Accuracy Bonus I, and if you've put that much work into your gear you likely don't. The difference is as /whm you can fire your slugshots off whenever you want and have an independent MP pool for those pesky cures/dia/status spells. Now if you can't get enough refresh to do that between your rdm, other brd, etc, then yes, please leave your party.

In any case, I'm clearly banging my head against a brick wall here and the thread has been derailed enough. You can all stay pissed off at /whm because it gives you guys a 'bad image,' but changing your sub to /whm shouldn't affect the way you play. Guess what, I see a lot of shitty war/nins because it went bandwagon. That doesn't mean I'm not going to sub /nin ever just because /sam is better in some situations.

Just to be clear, I won't be posting in this thread anymore because I have nothing of value to say to the OP that hasn't been said already, so if you want to debate the merits of /whm feel free to PM me. Or, if you really disagree with me and are just going to try to convince me of how wrong I am, feel free to just not sub /whm in merits. You'll prove me wrong one party at a time

/pcmd leave is > /whm in any merit/exp situation where /whm > /war, /dnc, /rng or even /nin in merits (/nin should only be used if you dont have a bard, or have a bard that's unable to sleep mobs, so you end up pulling)

if your a competent corsair, you can afford to be picky when it comes to exp.
