God damn that was awesome. The best was seeing the BGWoW guild chat and then hearing the shit in BGFFXI Vent and reading the forums at the same time. I nearly cried from the awesomeness. Ah memories.

General now is alot more spammy then it used to be for sure. All the old threads are still there - go look at random posts from 2005/2006. Most of them are just normal stuff. Sure there were the megathreads where people went nuts but you know. All and all it was fine.

and it seems like a lot of the older sections of the forums have dropped in quality because everyone whined for certain topics to be separated out and put in their own location, so now there's no topic variety in a lot of places. should just rename general the fark/digg knockoff section and create a separate section of the forums for BG advice and the transformation is complete

gonna fully agree with ivve here, actually. just gotta add a politics/current events board and it'd be a done fucking deal. I can understand that a max of 50 topics per page or whatever does put some limits on how much content a forum can feature before getting too hard to follow, but I think things have gone a bit too far.

we also didn't really get the highly specialized gaming/entertainment topics (or at least in such volume) until the separate forums came about, for whatever that's worth.

this even sort of happened with the ffxi boards; advanced got really sparse in a lot of ways when there didn't happen to be awesome drama going on. whoop-de-fuck, update notes.

really sparse? shit, i haven't seen more than ~15 active threads in advanced in months unless one or more of them was waiting to be locked or moved to standard.


i guess i just never thought it was a bad thing to have a mix of topics to review. i don't ever check bentertainment geekly, but honestly i'm sure a few of those topics would appeal to me if they were just in a place that i normally look.
