I think we'll see equipment that is aligned to one or more jobs, and stacking gear for certain levels of this alignment would unlock abilities. Think of it kinda like how wearing a sea torque can let you use a WS before you've actually earned it if it pushes your skill high enough, except you get +skill on all equipment and all abilities and spells would be granted that way. Then you put a delay between equipping a piece and its effects kicking in to stop people from gear swapping constantly.

Weapons would obviously grant the largest boosts, with other equipment available to fill in and round out.

It would be sweet if there was some sort of system where having certain skils/classes unlocked in warrior, and certain classes unlocked in mage could let you be a DRK or a PLD, or whatever their XIV equivalent would be.

I doubt that they will have you switch between jobs in the middle of a battle. I would expect it to be something similar to WOW, where when you are fighting, you get tagged as "In Combat", and it restricts what gear you change, your regen, variety of things.

Also, expecting tanks to switch to WHM to heal themselves in say a raid situation is ridiculous. Everyone knows that to raid, you min/max, so you have a dedicated tank, TANK, and a dedicated healer, HEAL.

As to people talking about how "half the jobs are going to be crafting/gathering QQQQQQQQ", do you really think that is what they are going to do? Really?
There's probably going to be at least as many job types as FFXI, and turning a craft into a "job" is just a different way to skill it up. In FFXI when you're a level 100 crafter, what do you have to "show" for it? Not shiny armor to show off, you get an apron. Maybe they are just trying to give crafters more recognition?

LOL. Sad but maybe true. At least you could throw dirt and grass at mobs.
It could be the new RNG!! Twice the damage, half the reload time!

Why do people cream themselves over Geomancers? I never really saw anything special or cool about them.

Mog from FFVI made them awesome for me. Also, the FFIV geomancer was fun, too.

I think its because its one of the only real ff jobs that didn't really have any kind of appearance in ffxi. Yes there are others but geomancer was in a few games. It really wasn't even a good job in most games. I remember how terrible it was in tactics. The crafter jobs I'm gonna assume are not gonna have any fighting capabilities. Why are people throwing out retarded ideas like OMG THEY'LL throw seeds at enemies which will do damage. I think se is taking a star wars galaxies approach. Meaning you don't have to pick a job that is used for combat

Yeah, would be interesting if you could be 'Blacksmither' main or something.. they'd have their own endgame system too :D

That piqued my interest though; how did endgame work in SWG? >_>

i think the crafting/gathering exp system is gonna be different, aka, getting exp from synthing/gathering. so they dont need to group up.

For crafters it involved searching planets for the best high end ingredients, searching and running over the planet taking samples which changed on a daily/weekly basis, and once you find a good point, you drop harvesters on that point to gather them in huge quantities.

Then you took those ingredients and used them in your crafts. Let's say you were a cook since it was in FFXI and alot of people can relate. You wanted to make a badass motherfucking cake that adds 100 HP for 30 minutes, so the schematic is.

    Water
    Flour
    Eggs
    Icing (Optional)
    Flavor Additives (Optional)

You would search planets for high quality water, flour, and you can get eggs from finding them (although its harder to do) or getting them from a bio engineer.

Mixing crappy ingredients together would get you a cake that gave like 80 HP. Decent materials would give you a 100 HP cake, and great materials would give you a 120 HP cake.

You could make items on the side to add to the recipe too like the Icing i mentioned, you could add that when you're making the cake to make it add another 20 HP on top of whatever the cake you made. So a badass cake would have 140 HP. Then there were additives you could add to make the cake last longer, say an hour, or give more effects.

So if you just went through the motions you could make some shitty cake that gave you 80 HP for 30 minutes, or you could take the time to make some amazing cake with all the trimmings that gave you 140 HP for 60 minutes. And that's where all the money came from, people willing to pay crafters to take hours upon hours to find the ingredients for a perfect item, rather than people just putting out a product.

I really think that SWG had a great crafting system, and I'd like to see some aspects of it in FF14, and if they are going to have jobs based solely on crafting, they better damn well flesh it out a lot.

Sounds fun.. but what did the crafters get out of making a 140hp cake? Did they become better cooks, or just get more currency (which made them able to buy... endgame equipment for cooking?)

You get a cake that when you die 5 minutes later, you lose that bonus that eating cake gave you(Cook bonus!). So you get to craft it all over again and say(again) "I have cake. The cake is NOT a lie!"
Same old craft/grind experience. Thats the xp you get, the experience itself of making an item. Grats.
Now go sell cakes because you made 500 and got a .1 gain. And you NEED to make money to pay off the guy you borrowed that cash to make 500 cakes from,(ALMOST CAPPED THOUGH ONLY .9 TO GO!!!)so he don't keep the [INSERT COOL GEAR/ITEM]. Cause you didn't wanna grind all that cash or items., but you have to cap to make more kewl items!!
OH GAWD THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL.
    Crafting sucks.
But you WILL do it anyway. I know, you know it. We ALL know. Happy wasting your life everybody!
BTW your really should have NOT gone BS, you should have went ALCH. Doofus move but those glasses.... totally HAWT!!
*END RANT* lol ty for listening.

You sell it to people, duh! It's like selling Sole Sushi -1 vs Sole Sushi +5. You also get skills ups for making stuff, experimenting with components, use the money you get from selling new food to buy better equipment to make better food, etc.

if they have stopped RMT's this time around or most of them shit won't cost as much. so the money like he said you get you could actually use to buy new armor and weapons. the only reason everything cost so much is because someone is buying from RMT's and is actually providing the people selling all this crap for ridiculous prices lol luckily I never bought Sole Sushi ever.

Speculation on Guildleves, Advancement and Gameplay

New article on Eorzeapedia by Gahoo, very intricate speculations on the job/levee system complete with a chart listing Virtues and potential replacements for leveling. I started to paste full the article here but did not have his permission and decided against it since I do not know his policy there on such things.
