BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

since a couple people have asked now what the unlimited characters are i figured i would give a quick rundown.

ok so each of the 4 unlimited characters get different special properties when you use their unlimited versions (hit taunt once at the char select screen then pick your char, the word unlimited will appear next to their name if you can pick the unlimited version)

ragna: his unlimited version has him in a permanent blood kain effect (greatly increased range and drain properties on his drive attacks) that does not take away from his health.

Rachel: my personal most hated unlimited, she gets all sorts of bullshit, a faster recharge on her sylph gauge, her frog requires many more attacks to kill and remove from screen, wont leave screen when she is hit and wont leave when he hits you. on top of that she can do her lightning attacks without her rods being placed and near as i can tell has control over where they land on screen. and to top it all off she's got about twice as much health as normal rachel.

hakumen: his maga gauge builds much quicker, he has more life and deals more damage, no other significant changes are made to his attacks near as i can tell.

nu: first thing you notice is that the bitch constantly gains heat meter for free. on top of that all her drive attacks including distortion attacks have more hits, each drive is 2 hits rather than 1, her multi sword DD is 30 hits rather than 20 and her gravity fields stay on screen longer.

they're basicly GGXX's gold characters, they're not allowed in rank matchs and player match rooms are defaulted to not allowed, but a room maker can allow them in player matchs.

google the dustloop forums and grab some combos from there, i've found that after you get a few of the combos down the rest come easy and it's a bit easier to freestyle mid-play because a lot of combos are somewhat similar, at least for litchi

basics for taokaka
it's a good place to get started, the combos start at 2:50 into the video and the strategies portion is at the end which gives you some ideas (P.S. there is a video for every character)

Dustloop.com of course always a great source of info and ideas

Training mode: lots and lots of training mode. I probably spend atleast 30min a day in training mode working on timing for combos or practicing new ones

also save videos of matchs that you loss but did good on or well matched off skillwise with your opponent. Rewatch them and look for your mistakes. example: alot of my videos I save I notice all too often where I missjudge using standing or crouching block and accidental optic barrels mid combos (which ruins the combo)

sorry I can't offer much advice on taokaka personally since I think I've played all of once outside of story mode (and I set the difficulty to beginner when I went through story just to clear it)

The bonus DVD is good to get a general feel for your character and learn some basic combos, especially since there's a video to show you how it should look, but I probably wouldn't rely on those too much in actual play, dustloop keeps up to date with combos that are probably better damage/leave you in a better situation/or character specific/easier to land/less punishable etc..., but the video is definitely a great starting place.

Tao's combos are fun as hell to do, I'm still deciding to either stick w/ her or use someone else as my 2nd. I may pick up ragna now.

The dvd is good for starters, but quite a bit of combos aren't noob friendly for those people who just started and don't have any prior experience to the guilty gear engine.

*added note* ragna's fun as hell!! Kaqn has an extremely good ragna, and his matches are a good reference for his combos, and proper playing.

Nah I said I was getting off in ~30min so I just cut it off when I finished that match.
