tried to get into welt's room earlier tonight a couple of times, but it just kept hanging at the connecting screen. guessing the room was either full or just plain ol' bugged? who knows.

if you attempt to join a room that's mid-match it'll fail all the time, the room has to sit in the lobby and wait for a person to join

So like, i fought against one of the better bang players, xbl is Shamedher0, pretty awesome and good practice if you want to fight a really good bang player. Anyways, does bang have like invincibility at 1hp? because i combo'd him enough to kill him and he still managed to keep 1hp, or does this apply to everyone?

Well, I know for one that you cannot kill someone with a combo starting with a Counter Assault. It will start doing no damage and leave them at 1 HP, regardless of the number of hits.. There may be other similar things that cause a combo to be unable to kill a person.

All combos after a certain point will start doing 0 damage, it varies combo to combo and how much damage/what moves are being done. It's basically implemented to prevent cheesy infinites from being spammed out the ass and killing people. The exception to the rule is throws, which do not suffer from damage scaling (but can be broken obviously).

As said above, combos also started from a Burst (or whatever the fuck they call it in this game) cannot kill your opponent, and iirc combos started after an instant block follow the same rules, where your opponent will be left @ 1 HP no matter how much damage you're dealing.

Wouldn't an infinite still be preferred if one could keep it up all the way until the round timer ends, to which they'd win by default due to more health?

I don't recall the match, and i should've saved the replay. But I do think it was due to a counter assault.

*edit* I actually broke his guard libra, and he managed to maintain 1hp during my chain revolver combo. I found it funny in the end tho. It was a fun match regardless.

ahhh, that would explain it! kind of a shitty bug though, i hope they fix that in the near future. something like that should throw an error message instead of just leaving you wondering wtf is going on.

quick tip for anyone that gets stuck in 'connecting...' limbo, sign yourself out of PSN and sign back in. attempting to quit the game altogether during that phase causes a hard freeze, signing out allows you to recover and sign back in and resume with minimal downtime.

I played this person the other night. He kicked my ass. It was so embarassing lol. Then I saw he was in top 10 on the XBL leaderboards, so I didn't feel so bad.

Syxx, since you're also learning Ragna, another good player who's on XBL is Jiyuna. He's an old school GG player, so you might know of him. He's near the top of XBL leaderboards as well and has a sick win/loss ratio. It's above 90% last I checked. His style of Ragna is very similar to Kaqn's. Extremely aggressive, tho not reckless and abuses the hell out of Ragna's range on his pokes.

Before playing FFXI, I was a semi-competitive Guilty Gear XX player. I was active on Gamecombos (dustloop before it became dustloop), which is where I knew you from. My main was Dizzy. I was friends with the Team Serious guys, but never really as good as them - Kenji, Jason, Clayton, Destin, etc. I stuck to the northeast mainly for tournaments. I went to a few up in Boston and RI and one of the tournaments hosted by...some venom player who lived in Maryland. Cgod or something? I remember there was an Anji player named TomASS.

Anyways, one evening I was fucking around with May in Training mode and came up with a bunch of wacky JI'd-FRC combos and posted them in the May forum for shits and giggles and you IM'd me on AIM like 15 minutes later lol.

I don't think we spoke again after that except one time you noticed I had an FFXI related away message up and then I guess you changed your online handle. I always remembered you as the May guy.

lol holy shit!! I don't remember your AIM name, but then again, I deleted a lot of people from my list. I used to always talk to Kenji and he gave me the big run down on how to use Anji and mained him in GGXX/. I always had May as my main tho, small world indeed, pretty awesome >_< lol. My day just got better, i've been w/ an insane fever, but it's good knowing there are gcc people still around.
