    Nostalgia

Pretty much the game I'm looking forward to more than anything else this fall other than scribblenauts, I know people aren't huge fans of the char. models from FF3/4 (as evidenced by the SE countdown thread) but this game looks amazing. I can't help but feel like it's the closest thing to Skies of Arcadia I'll ever get without a direct sequel.

Seems to be pretty standard turn-based battles w/magic etc, as well as airship battles. Being made by Matrix (the people who did the remakes of FF3/FF4/FF4: The After Years and Avalon Code) and the game has gotten pretty decent reviews in Japan.

    Here's the trailer, looks amazing:

    Coming out in September :D

Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite games of all time so I really hope this is anywhere near as good, even though it's not the same company. Maybe one day they'll make a sequel :<

Love these guys and their work, FF3/4/AC all are some of my favorite games on my DS <3

Also, quit shitting on the blocky graphics. It's acceptable if it was a PS1 game like Legend of Dragoon or lolFFVII. It's a nintendo handheld, not exactly going to have the graphics of a PS3.

Main thing I'm liking are all the sweeping camera movements and what not. So many DS games these days are lacking in the cinematic-approach department.....

yeah, got pushed back. but if we learned anything from Black Sigil, it's that endless delays always result in a quality product... oh wait

haha I kid though... I'm expecting this to be much better than Black Sigil. although I'm wary, and am expectantly waiting for the reviews to see what other like-minded fans think of it.

this game just got dumped, in case anyone cares. I'll be playing a bit soon, and post my impressions. Gameinformer gave it an 8/10, which isn't too bad for a DS RPG for them, I guess.

    can't wait!

so far this is a lot of fun. of course it's about as cliche as it looks (your first mission has you clearing rats from a sewer, lol, and the characters are about as stereotypical as it gets) but the skill system is actually pretty in-depth and the game is a lot of fun. Airship battles are really neat, btw, they remind me a lot of SoA. All in all it's a great turn-based RPG for DS, so far.

Been playing this, and I'm a happy camper so far. The name literally is the game here- it really is a classic JRPG, and I keep getting happy oldschool vibes out of it.

It's not a total railroad- they tucked some nice optional sidequest/dungeons into the game that you might actually miss completely if you didn't explore-I literally only noticed the Lemuria mini-dungeon because my airship flew over it...and the "landing" option blinked. It's invisible from higher flight, but surrounded by impassable storms at low altitude. Grinding a bit is rewarded- cause at higher levels you can go back to an area, earn A or S-rank wins constantly and end up snagging rarer items as a result. You can go places where Shit Fucks You Up, and the game doesn't always have artificial fences to keep you out.

I'm not blazing through it (up to Tokyo now) but someone realized the DS is perfect for this sorta thing and popped out a winner.
