what'd you guys say? sorry I was busy fapping to KB GT5 tease

But yeah, this game is not getting me excited at all. Hoping it gets cheap fast tho, looks like it'll be a decent $20 party game.

Today thegamersheep has shared a video via YouTube of ModNation Racers PS3 being unboxed, and the Examiner.com has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 video game requires 3.2GB of free space for installation on the PS3 HDD.

The upcoming kart racing game in development by United Front Games for the PlayStation 3 (and PSP) is set for an official release on May 21st in Europe and May 25th of 2010 in North America.

    To quote:
"Coming packed with Sackboy character mod and LittleBigPlanet themed kart, ModNation is all about customization and player creation.

ModNation Racers PS3 will require 3.2 GB of HDD space. Considering the scope of the game, this really isn't that bad. With dozens of items, mods, and tools at your disposal, this installation is minor in size for this kind of title."

Played with the demo a bit last night and thought it was a kinda fun game, especially since I was actually able to win races. Something I normally don't do in racing games as I suck at them. I got into the create stuff too and while some controls kinda felt wonky, it was pretty fun.

I might end up grabbing this game afterall.

    Also: lol@backwards Australian video.

7gb, wtf. Sony let that one through? That has got to be by far the largest install next to Agarest War. What's the bloody point in the BluRay format when it's just an install disc for a good 25% of PS3 games. ;/

inb4 people bitching about me bitching about mandatory installs. It's called learning to organize the data on the BD better, duping data for decreasing seek times on common media (like multi-platform games ever use more than 6.5gb of data due to 360 limitations anyway, that leaves 18.5gb to play with), and using the system cache like GoW3/FFXIII.

At any rate, in the case of ModNation Racers, with the load times being long enough as is from HD, makes me curious how much worse they'd be running straight from disc.

That 7 gigs was a mistake, I think the actual install size was 3.7

Yeah, max allowed is 5gb install. Was confirmed as a 3.7gb install, not 7gb. Either the site altered the image to get clicks or it was a misprint on a certain game cover.

even so, like i said it still takes 15mins to install, and if i dont play a game frequently i have to delete the installs to keep space free

You guys realize you can replace a ps3 hard drive with 650g + for less than a hundred bucks right?

Personally I'll wait until it's 1tb/100 since mine's new, but still, ps3 hd space is pretty much a non-issue unless you're trying to just barely get by on an original one.

I'm not spending money to lose hundreds of hours on my save datas (fuck copy-protected saves, why not lock them to the PSN account instead) just so I can have a larger drive for the devs who are incompetent at optimizing their games for loading.

You won't lose them if you do a system backup. You only lose them if you try and restore the backup on a completely different PS3.

I've had a friend RL who did a backup while upgrading his HD size (same PS3) and he lost access to his near-perfected Bayonetta data, so I'm not exactly one to try and test a backup myself when I got over a hundred hours put in Demon's Souls alone on my PS3.

I've done it twice and gotten everything back fine both times.
