Man... difficulty suddenly skyrockets once you get to the 3rd set of tracks in single player mode.
First two sets I was getting 1st place with no problems. Now I have to retry the same track 3-4 times just to finish in the top 3.

I finally got around to playing it yesterday and I was expecting a long load time after seeing this post, but nowhere near as long as it actually took. I quit playing after it started loading the 2nd race. I like the game, but the load times are really offputting.

What was the install for if it left the load time this long?

A couple questions for those who have bought and played this game.

After preordering RDR and Galaxy 2 I have $40 Amazon credit that I'm either getting Dragon Age Awakening or this. I'd prefer to get this, but there are some things about the local multiplayer I'm curious about since it will mostly get played when friends are over.

-Does the local MP have the same faults as previous Mario Karts where anything over 2 people means you race only with human players?

-Does it have the same bonus as old Mario Karts where you could complete the story mode with 2 players? If so can you do the story mode with 3 and 4 (oh please god)?

By story mode, since there never was a story, I mean simply doing circuits and unlocking tracks as a group opposed to having to do it all on your own.

For local MP, I'm not sure about 4 players, as I only have 3 controllers, but with 3 friends, I'm able to put in 3 AI for a total of 6. With 2 friends you can put in 10AI.
So I assume with 3+ people, it either limits the amount of racers to 6, or doubles human players, so it would either 6 racers total, or 8. definitely not just 4.

Can't do story mode with anyone other than yourself.
There actually is an actual story in the story mode though in this game.
and the story mode is hard as shit. Like unreasonably hard. Especially if youre trying to do the side-objective on the track to unlock some more props for customization.

The AI cheats, is the only plausible conclusion you come to when playing career mode. If you're in first and you fall off the track, you might as well restart, because once you reset, you'll be in 10/12th place. If you're in forst and the AI in second falls off, you'll see him again in about 5 seconds. I'd say 80% of the weapons the AI get are saved just to try and hit you. The difficulty is unchangable in career mode. you can change it in all the other modes though.
There are 5 tours. For all the races except for the very last, you can proceed further in the game by getting third place or better. Last race requires 1st place.
To unlock the side-achievements during a race though, you have to get 1st.
The 1st two tiers are easy enough to win, and the achievments are easy to do. third tier is easy enough to win, but I'm having difficulty completeing the achievements. 4th tour I occasionally got in 1st, but mostly finished in 3rd, and havent unlocked any of the achievements for them.
5th tour has taken me 4-5 tries just to get in 3rd, and I'm currently stuck on the second to last race, so far having retried it 9times. no idea how I'm going to unlock the achievements on these.
You will probably hardly ever succeed in a race on the 4th and 5th tour on the first trying, because the track itself is usually a bigger threat to you than the other drivers, and w/o knowing what's coming up next, it's near impossible.
Long story short: Fuck Career mode and the fact they make you beat it AND all the achievements to be able to get everything to have full access to everything in the create section.

hmm just noticed I just spent like 2 hours trying to get my Eva unit 02 mod together. Head looks decent enough, but I think the body isn't to great due to lack of body accessories.

Has the patch for the load times gone out yet? Waiting for that before I pick up the game. Hopefully Walmart or Target will have some sale for the game around that time.

So is this game really popular sales-wise? Went to a local Futureshop to browse about, and they only had two copies in out of what looked like two dedicated spots for it to display at.

It's doing good in Europe, NPD's haven't been released for US so we don't know yet, but I doubt it'll make top 5 with Red Dead Redemption and UFC for both platforms, plus Super Mario Galaxy 2.

In Europe it is actually beating Blur and Split/Second in the individual platform charts and it is in its second week, which is surprising.
