Has anyone mentioned this thread title is close to hard on yet?
It actually used to be hardon for a while. Khamsim changed it on April fools day and nobody noticed.
Damnit woozie. Not the expected response.

Whoops, my bad.
Does anyone know a homomorphism from the quarternions to any other group such that {-1,1} is the kernel of said homomorphism? Or better yet, does anyone know a quick way to prove that {-1,1} is normal in the quarternions? It's pretty obvious, but I want to come up with a proof that doesn't involve checking each element one by one. And I can't simply state "{-1,1} is the center" because even though it's obvious, I'd have to prove it. I'm trying to avoid doing a brute force check.
Edit: Nevermind. Brute force only took about 30 seconds and two lines of writing.
Can you construct the Q kernel as pairs of complex numbers and prove it from there?
I remember lots of Q stuff is easier if broken down into complex portions, not sure of an exact method though.
Saw this video on Fark as it's making it around the intrawebs. Glad I did. I agree with the guy's sportscenter analogy and that we should build the telescope. Hope more get interested in it.
Next time I'm stuck on a math homeworks, I will try WoW's GM.
I thought it was funny.
