I have procrastinated this entire semester, and instead usually just fill out job applications. Filling out one for an air force comp. eng. one right now.
Either that or I just play videogames, which I was doing earlier tonight. Still get A's.
It's not that I don't want to get good grades, it's just I literally don't get stressed at all. It's really weird, perks is I'm an amazing test taker. I dole out better work when "under pressure" anyways.
I'm the same way. I'm a terrible student and an excellent test taker. I never get any test anxiety (which is weird, because I did in high school, I think it went away with age). I get so much more nervous when I have to mingle with patients than I do taking tests, and we don't even get graded for that.
It's a very minimal study, dangerous to draw any broad conclusions on so little information. I also couldn't get a sense of how important the effect was when compared to other things like BMI. Maybe I'm being pedantic, but it seems like they didn't make density measurements of any other bones as I breezed through the materials and methods. I'm a total nonexpert, but wouldn't one assume the possibility of asymetry in bone density due to any number of effects (BMI, height, weight, as mentioned in the paper?) Like, maybe for whatever reason a few people had bone density asymetries in their entire body? So at least that would be a control expt, or some way to normalize their results. The 24 nonusers would serve as an even better internal control in that case.
In any case, it's so minimal like Shiro & Silentleroy said, no real reason to worry about cell phones. Crossing the street in broad daylight seems a riskier behavior even if we take the study at face value.
Yeah I just wanted some more ammo just in case that paper turned out better science than it was, considering there have been much better studies with nothing conclusive being found. The guy who posted it on FB pretty much turned a 180 in the discussion (or he was being sarcastic in his original post, but it didn't seem like it). Thanks for checking it out.
Stolen from the picture thread , but damn, these comics describe school life perfectly
Spoiler: show
Way too true.
Whats funny is that I was talking to someone last week about that lol. Read 2 chapters of homework and look up and realize you dont remember one word. God I hate that.
I've been doing it this entire semester lol. Probably has to do with my procrastination. Either that or I am losing brain cells at an exponential rate from drinking every weekend.
I think it mostly has to do with distractions in my mind. The only way it doesn't happen is if I'm surrounded by distractions. If I sit there quiet with no TV on and try to read, my mind just fucking goes on the most ridiculous thought paths. Kinda like when I try to go to sleep without TV, I just wind up staying up thinking about shit it's absolutely terrible.
I've got 19 papers to read that I haven't touched. Pity me. PITY ME
Science papers are the worst. Bad enough having to read 4 times to understand it let a lone absorb it.
I also have the habit of falling asleep while I read. Must be the position I sit in or something, within the first ten minutes of reading I'm already starting to nod off.
You just need to be within 10 yard of the book to absorb its knowledge anyway, not like you have to read it.
I guess I will. Psychology ones were definitely a head ache. Interesting ones are the best but most are fairly boring.
