    9x9 matrices are homo.

    I'm cool with 2x2.

In other news...how can you send a 2 day late homework to your teacher. I'm writting an e-mail with the pdf in attachment...i just need a good line.

It's the 3rd time in 4 homeworks that I'm late...I'm starting to feel bad about it.

    Does he accept bribes?

Also, did you use a calculator for the 9x9 matrix or did you do it by hand? If it was by hand, that had to be insanely brutal. Even if you did use a calculator, large matrices are still a pain though because they're hard to input without messing up somewhere. My calculator can't always tell why my matrices aren't working. It will say something like "error: parenthesis imbalance". So I count my parenthesis, find out they're all evenly matched, and then I'm stuck looking through 81 elements (or however big my matrix is) to figure out where I went wrong.

It was almost a diagonal, except for 4 elements. I was making it sound worse than it was. That said, it's still confusing, and take forever to write.

I solved it with mathematica after to make sure I had it right, but the question was kinda ambiguous and sounded like he wanted us to use technique to simplify/diagonalize the matrix.

    Does he accept bribes?
I wish, it would take away some of the guilt.

He is too nice to refuse them, or give a penalty...it justs make me feel bad to use his kindness every damn time.

Guess I'm the only one who loves matrix mathematics?

I would rather work with summation than matrice most of the time. At least you see what's going on with your function.

The utility in representing/calculating higher dimensional spaces though!

You will find a linear algebra application for every matrice you have.

If a matrix is diagonal/nearly diagonal/3x3/2x2, it's not as big of a deal. But anything else, and I'm either going to bust out my calculator or not even do the calculation at all.

Edit: And hermitian matrices are fine too since you can diagonalize them.

Well, they're basically the same thing obviously.

I just find matrices more aesthetically pleasing, more like how I naturally handle numbers in my head.

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiment on the French-Swiss border has set a new world record for energy.

The LHC pushed the energy of its particle beams beyond one trillion electron volts, making it the world's highest energy particle accelerator.

The previous record was held by the Tevatron particle accelerator in Chicago.

Officials say it is another milestone in the LHC's drive towards its main scientific tests set for 2010.
One step closer, no? I'm just glad nothings gone wrong yet, though I'm keeping my hand securily attached to my wood.

Ps. Who gave this thread permission to leave the front page?

I know it's exciting and all, but I wouldn't say it's THAT exciting.
