I have to pay a chunk of her cell phone bill every month, and my mom stays on her ass about a car payment, so I'd imagine that it'll go to bills. She doesn't have a job and has been living off of child support. My sister is a class act as you can see.

k if you're paying any part of that cell phone bill, then have her let you do a week's worth of shopping for your family with her stamps

My complaint was mostly this, there is a reason Tyche "feels dirty" about it, he should. It is entirely unethical. While it is a tough argument to make that people in poor economic circumstances taking advantage of others in the same boat is the ultimate in evil. It is by no means inaccurate to say that people with the means to take care of themselves defrauding a system set up to merely allow those less fortunate to survive is at the very least unethical. There is no "game" without players.

The whole food stamp business is fucking unethical. Back when we had our first kid, we had just bought our house and tasha was off for 8 weeks. We tried to apply for food stamps, because we needed the extra cash. Turns out, they base it off income and not income:expenditures. My income alone didn't qualify, despite us losing her income for the 8 weeks. We had a new house, 2 cars, insurances, cable, electric, etc and so on...which we were more than able to pay for with both incomes...just losing hers made it tight for a 2 month stretch which would have been made a bit easier with money for food. They just seen my income and decided that we didn't qualify because of my income, despite our expenditures being based off of two incomes. The middle class who needed it got fucked.

No but all jokes aside I feel you, It's one of those things that will never go away. Much akin to the war on drugs, Truth.com vilifying cigarettes in hope of abolishing them etc...

I mean it sounds good and is noble to stand up for a cause, but this is something that has been around since day one, long before many people reading this were ever born and it will continue. Like Richardd said, there are rich white folks that do the same thing. Here in Charlotte there are tons or food stamp recipients in and around Ballantyne with is a super exclusive "sub city" of Charlotte that houses the likes of Athletes, singers and actors in this area.

I mean, being mad and losing sleep is only hurting you. Everyone knows it and everyone participates for the most part, most knowingly others unknowingly. Ask around, you know someone on food stamps and I guarantee you they sell them for quick cash if they have everything they need to make it for that particular month. Think of it as a social experiment, seriously it is what is it.

No point getting your feathers ruffled over it. This is a 25 year game you've stepped into, it obviously has the staying power to be here long after we are gone. Food prices keep getting higher so people are making their own rules to level the playing field.

After actually reading the topic, I want to point out that the reason people usually do this is because single mothers typically get way more food stamps than they need anyways, and typically have less cash than they need for bills and such.

After that episode, the only contact they have with each other is the exchanging of the child on weekends. Tried to get custody ripped, but as it turns out, it would have had an effect on the child support, so she didn't do it.
