They can't always do it, and it would suck to have to ID the person buying. Plus, for protection if it's stolen, it can be reported, just like any debit/credit card. What is good is that the balance of the card is printed each purchase so that it can be checked

edit: by suck, they'd have to add some ID/name to the purchase system and someone will have to pay to get ID for the persons using the card that are covered by it. It takes away from the benefit of remaining somewhat anonymous when making the purchase, but that's just me.

Unless you have some sort of moral issue with perpetuating what is clearly a lack of class and responsibility on her part, you actually do mind enabling her by providing her with cash in exchange for government welfare, and you're somehow not cool with exacerbating the problem for the sake of grocery savings, I'd say go for it. Mizango is right though, I'd offer her 45 and if she doesn't take it, fuck her.

I wouldn't pay with food stamps unless I was literally starving. If I got an insane, crazy deal.....I would buy them and then give someone free food to go pay with them for me, lol.

You don't really buy them from street dealers, or at least not here. I know people that have hem. It wouldn't be hard to ask them to go to the store with me and use their ID in the checkout. You're not getting around selling them, its that easy.

There is no "them." its a credit card. When you're checking out you hit EBT and swipe the card and thats it The only way they know is because of how the card looks, as someone already pointed out, its a card with a terrible american flag graphic.

Self checkouts exist for a reason.

Aren't there usually food stamp dealers that stand on the side of the building of the grocery store? You have to say the code word to gain their trust, then they open their trench coats and their coats are lined with different denominations of food stamps.

So you can get basically any food at a grocery store? As long as it'd edible, you're in the clear?

The company I work for handled EBT Food stamp machine installations across MD that were for "Mom & Pop" places. Some nasty little hole-in-the-wall stores, some basically a house that has food and a cash register.

At least here, the cards have a PIN associated with it. I don't know if new cards come in every month or not, or how all that works, but I don't think it'd be as easy to pawn them around.

Of course, the way around this is to claim the machines are down, or pull the phone line out of it, and then use the paper forms. I'd bet no one actually calls in/types in the data once the connection is restored like they are supposed to, in order to get reimbursed.

    Exactly.

Oh and its tax free. So if something costs 1.37 its 1.37 at the register, making it easier to track your shopping.

half price and tax free? I can easily see why there is a constant demand for food stamps. I don't think there is anyone I know who uses them though...

Nah, ask around. Everyone knows someone, its just a matter of getting them to admit it. Therein lies the problem.

Think of it like making an arms deal, pose as a potential buyer with Saudi ties and watch people start coming out of the woodworks.

I got the money. You got the stuff?

Edit: Actually, I bet my step-sister is going to be going on them soon, or is already on them. If she and her boyfriend can barely scrape together $400 a month for rent...

Neither do I. Maybe I should just gang sign and walk away before someone gets hurt in this edible arms deal.

I'm not sure, but I dont think Mexicans or Asians sell their Food stamps. Its mostly Whites and Blacks.

Shit! I can name drop atleast 10 Cholas that sell and/or loan out their Lonestar card right now. Even got a few of them on speed dial incase i'm in the area and need to make an HEB run and don't want to splurge and end up endangering my green.
