So far, the best googled recipe for the broil is garlic, salt and pepper. That's a little bland imo, so if anyone can give a better - fast - recipe it's appreciated. I have a ton of condiments to do a fast marinade with, including my favorite - Smoke/Hickory flavored BBQ sauce.

Also, if you wanna post other BBQ/Grill tips/recipes feel free. It's the time to do so, with the 4th in 2 days.
Noting fro another post that you have a steak rub--

Half cup olive oil, 1 tbspn soy sauce, couple tablespoons of your meat rub. Let it sit in that while it warms to room temp for the cooking. (30-45 mins, depends how cold your olive oil/soy sauce are)

edit after reading a bit more: don't marinate with worcestershire if you don't know what you're doing, you'll end up with a bitter, funky piece of meat that doesn't taste like steak

Well, I know London broil isn't the best cut, and that's why I'm listening (for once) to the advice of letting it marinade. And its KILLING me. Every time I go out to smoke I stop off at the fridge and smell it - it smells so damn good in the bag.

    NY strip sounds good.

If you guys can, pick up some ribs and get kraft's Hickory Smoke flavor bbq sauce - its delicious and thats about it for prep for the ribs. Cover em, cook em, enjoy em. The sauce is great.

I haven't tried it yet but one way i've learned to get cheap, super tender awesome steaks is to go to a warehouse store like BJ's or Cosco's and buy a whole beef tenderloin. Trim it and cut your own steaks for real value. I learned this from a caterer but it was also featured on an episode of the show "Good Eats" on the food network.

For year's I marinated my London broil in soy sauce and A1 sauce. I make sure I poke some holes in it with a fork and let it marinate for a day or two. I also add a little pepper salt an oregano. Probably not the best sounding but it is delicious.

I'm probably gonna BBQ for some friends. So I'm kind of looking for some new things to try.

Honestly London Broil sucks on a grill no matter what you do with it. Put it in a slow cooker all day and it will melt in your mouth when its finished.

I'm not a fan of marinated steaks in general, I think they taste better if you just throw them on the grill without any flavoring and you take your time cooking it. I know this will sound weird but I actually like using hot sauce on my steaks because it enhances the flavor, and because I like a little heat in my food.

Oh yeah BBQ ribs cooked on a grill are fucking amazing. I've made them 3 times already this year and they are damn near orgasmic. I highly highly recommend them.

rule of thumb when you're grilling meat.

the slower you grill the meat, the more tender it will be

if you dont want to marinade, go the other way, dry rubs.

basic BBQ dry rub: mix Brown sugar (light/reg depend on pref.), cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, salt, pepper
you can add w/e herbs+spices u like from there

^this, im a huge fan of cumin though too.

i like to make herbed butters for my steaks, just lightly season with some S&P and throw a small scoop of my home made herb butter. thats what does it for me. if you dont like steaks putting marinades on it is a good way to cover up the flavor d(^.^d). but for me, keep it pretty simple and light.

Slow BBQ and dry rubbing with a slip of sauce right before it's done. Or injection/glaze when using a rotisserie.

I've also found that those enclosable fish racks work perfect for grilling zucchini and squash.

NY Strip or a nice Rib Eye... just some salt and black pepper and rubbed down the grill pan with some garlic butter... 4 minutes per side (2 min then turn for nice grill marks, flip, turn)

Topped with some butter+balsamic sauteed onions and mushrooms

Yeah that's a gooood steak. Actually better than some I've had in some steakhouses around here. And NYC has some good steakhouses!

The slower cooking of meat on a bbq is generally only for tough cuts of meat. You wouldn't want to slow cook a filet mignon. =)
