Yep, I just didnt know who I was talking too.
nvm...
This basically sums up the larger issue. There is no consistency here. At all. It is like mods throw darts at a board and it is confusing. The sticky didn't really explain much at all.
The other being curiosity. All that seems to have happened(ignoring aesthetics) is that certain threads are now banned from BG. Some things can't be talked about AT ALL. (Well maybe in Spam)
Personally, as a mod, I am not going to go out of my way to lock topics like "General Tips for FFXI" and "CoP 6-4 Airship SMN burn?". They may not be advanced, but as has been pointed out, "advanced" is a loosely defined term. My gut reaction would be to lock the CoP thread and advise the OP to use the search function, but since it has some serious, helpful replies already, I'm leaving it.
I have full faith the forum members (aka sharks) will scare away the truly retarded and noobish topics, and respect ones that have some thoughtful discussion. However, unnecessary heckling of legitimate threads will be dealt with.
So far in my modding career, I have locked, given an infraction to, or banned very few threads/people, and only those that obviously needed it. For the most part, if no one else has a problem with something, I don't. Although, if they were my forums, and I weren't modding on behalf of Sonomaa, I'd probably lock quite a few more threads than I do currently.
But every mod is different and will moderate in their own way. Another mod may very well decide to lock the CoP thread that I chose to leave. Another mod may ban someone for a lesser reason than I would. If Sonomaa disapproves of the way his mods are interpreting "Advanced", he's more than capable of setting us straight or demodding us.
As for what this means for Advanced, I think the only thing we can do for now is wait and see.
