I don't see how you can draw a comparison between Starcraft and Flower.
I'm guessing they should ban art house cinema because it doesn't appeal to everyone?

This might blow your mind and change your whole PHILOSOPHY of FLOWER. You ready for this shit?I don't see how you can draw a comparison between Starcraft and Flower.
Spoiler: show
Since when was I a ruler of a country or a fascist one at that?I'm guessing they should ban art house cinema because it doesn't appeal to everyone?
"How could you hate flower, you.... you... fascist!"
It's really like I am talking to a bunch of hippies!! Best game ever. Art.
EDIT: Also it is a little disheartening that you have all given up already and started to attack my ego instead of actually debating this. Oh well. Also also the constant appeal to authority is silly.
Well, one is a Real Time Strategy game where three factions of opposing armies (aliens and humans) battle for dominance over a portion of a galaxy, and the other is a free-form game where you control the wind and blow petals around with poignant undertones about humanity, wastefulness and ecology.
So again, how can you compare the two, really?
Edit: Hypothetical question, and there was never any mention of it being the best game ever.
Such an innocent thread, trolled to death for three pages.
Okay the bold and italic are all that matter. The rest is fluff and has nothing to do with the game itself. (Notice how you were unable to even list a genre for Flower?)Well, one is a Real Time Strategy game where three factions of opposing armies (aliens and humans) battle for dominance over a portion of a galaxy, and the other is a free-form game where you control the wind and blow petals around with poignant undertones about humanity, wastefulness and ecology.

Italic is genre/subgenre. Bold is what Flower and Starcraft actually are. Normally it would be difficult to compare these games if we needed to be specific. But we don't. Starcraft can easily be seen as deep and complex. Flower is the exact opposite. Right now we are comparing them as games and they are both most certainly games. To judge Flower by any other criteria is stupid. That is exactly what you are doing.
Also while it might not be the best game ever, shouldn't it be at least a really good game to be a must have?
EDIT: Actually, it wouldn't even matter. Flower would only fit in a thread called "Bad PS3 games"
I don't think these guys are trolling...Such an innocent thread, trolled to death for three pages.
You make it sound like this has all been part of a masterful ploy the entire time.
Since you seem so keen to argue semantics so much, I'd like to propose to you this wikipedia article. Game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I have been so kind as to point you in the right direction by highlighting the definitions section by default, for you to read through and hopefully better your knowlege.
I would also like to, if I may, point out that the parenthesis after Chris Crawford's definitions of a game also support the arguement for flower being a game.
Also please note the usage of the term "Art" when quantifying what it means to have an interactive game.
Infact since I'm feeling jazzy, I'll sum up your rebuttal for you now, you're going to argue that by the definitions stated on the wikipedia article, flower is nothing more than an interactive puzzle/challenge, but please note that the author suggests that this is subjective, and that many games are to be considered a puzzle in some aspect or another.
Edit: 2:30am, I'm off to bed. I look forward to being reaffirmed that flower most certainly isn't a game in the morning.
BRP you're still just being an arrogant asshole at this point. You consistently ignore the reasons as to why people find this game entertaining and "good" as you put it. At this point you are just being a troll. You think that Flower is barely a game and terrible congratulations you've made your point. Problem is, no matter how many times you say "NANANANANANANANANa, I can't hear you because you're stupid" will change the fact that you're heavy outnumbered on the final verdict.
Also You seem unable to actually make just a cohesive point, picking small quotes and trying to twist them out of context to make yourself look good. Respond to my whole point then you wouldn't come off as much of a bottom rung political ad. You are being the epitome of the idiot troll who just is arguing for the sake of it as opposed to bringing anything to the discussion. You're not making any points other than MY OPINION > all others.
P.S. I really don't care at this point what you say because I know no matter what I say you probably won't even relent the littlest amount to say that you personally didn't like Flower and that others might actually find it entertaining. Honestly I shouldn't have even gotten confrontational but whatever what's done is done. You can pick apart my post and claim you're not trying to wreck a a thread where people are giving their opinions of what good games are. Anyways you can argue to the bitter end to save some poor soul of even contemplating spending money on Flower because apparently it was so bad you need to make sure people don't support it but I say to anyone reading this keep an open mind.
hahahaha, you are full of surprises.I'd like to propose to you this wikipedia article.
Okay, so here I am looking at the wikipedia page for its infinite wisdom.I would also like to, if I may, point out that the parenthesis after Chris Crawford's definitions of a game also support the arguement for flower being a game.
The solution is very simple. Puzzles are games, a type of game, a genre. Sometimes we call them... puzzle games. Or puzzle videogames.
I don't plan on reading any more... please just post it here. It will make you look a little less silly too. Making me chase around stupid web articles isn't an argument, it is a chore. Also please note the usage of the term "Art" when quantifying what it means to have an interactive game.
All games are puzzle games in at least the most primitive state.that many games are to be considered a puzzle in some aspect or another.
EDIT:
u mad? etcBRP you're still just being an arrogant asshole at this point.
Where? You consistently ignore the reasons as to why people find this game entertaining and "good" as you put it.
I didn't know I was in court. Oh, IGN thinks Flower is a good game huh? Well I guess I must think Flower is a good game.Problem is, no matter how many times you say "NANANANANANANANANa, I can't hear you because you're stupid" will change the fact that you're heavy outnumbered on the final verdict.
Hey, here is a wikipedia page! Maybe I won't even have to argue anymore!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_authority
and then blah blah blah, nothing about Flower being a good game. Okay.
EDIT: Oh since numbers are coming up, maybe I should have just linked this instead
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwagon_fallacy
(btw, I don't expect to actually read these wikipedia articles. I expect you not to make these stupid ass mistakes to begin with)
Anyway, I think that if you take the OP's usage of the term "must have" too literally, you get stuck in pointless semantic arguments or insignificant debates over something that's entirely subjective.
Can we just say that the ps3 library contains few (if any) titles considered "must have" but it does have a fair number of exclusives or enhanced editions that are very good and worth playing, although it varies based on personal taste?
I think the notion of single titles that are so good they warrant the purchase of the console is an antiquated one from a bygone era of gaming, nowadays the volume and variation of games released ensures that people who buy a console will be able to find their own personal "must haves" that make it worth it for them. For example, I wouldn't purchase a Wii for any one single game, but the combination of exclusive games like Arc Rise Fantasia, Fragile, and Muramasa as a whole create ample justification of the expenditure. Other people might buy a Wii solely for first party titles like Mario and Zelda, or for (shudder) casual games like Wii Sports. They're not wrong, it's just what they like.
So yea, games that are "must buy" for PS3 (or any system) are going to vary depending on who you ask but there are a number of highly rated, well received, good games that are worth considering. I don't see the point in arguing.
I actually said that in my first post in that thread, but it is not what I am arguing about. I am just assuming must-have means "good" or "great." Flower is neither. Flower is terrible. Flower is a joke. "Zen-gaming" is a joke. Anyone who thinks there is something called Zen-gaming is a joke. That about sums it up. (This is about all I said in the first post, without calling someone anything, and then I was challenged. And so this debate happened. Maybe I tricked that guy into replying negatively to me! Muhahahaha Evil troll wins again!!)
Noby Noby Boy is the best game on the triple.
Never played it.
BRP apparently defines what a "game" is. Or, more so, what anyone is allowed to call a "game."
Depends on your tastes, TC. I like a little bit of everything with the exception of western RPGS, like "Fallout," etc.
I'd recommend the following:
- MGS:4
- Uncharted
- Warhawk
- Super Stardust HD
- Flower
- BlazBlue
- RE:5
- Resistance 2
- Killzone
- Infamous
To name a few.
How is it not a game? It has levels, goals, a story (granted the narrative is interpreted and not presented, but it is there)
It is a game in the most simplest sense, but so is anything in the whole world really. Let us just call it a simple and shitty game and be done with it. I wouldn't mind people calling it a toy though.
Also mio, again, you are not really saying much. The person who makes the most sense usually does decide things as he presents that best model. But of course, attack my ego again! Maybe it will change what I am saying into a fable.

Holy fuck BRP. You're done for a bit.
