Only one thing I want to see the whole game do to become "way better":
Does the game allow you to keep aim mode camera normal and 3rd person camera double-inverted? In the demo there is only one set of camera options instead of the expected two.

The lack of proper camera options in the demo made me keep pausing and having to change the options to run vs. gun. Uncertain if I can recommend the whole game to myself, since controls come first in a sandbox game.

For that matter, does the whole game ever go past the demo's content of sandbox parkour and individual missions? Which might be enough, though, it was fun except for the obdurate control scheme.

    Anyone who says MGS4 isn't a must-play game isn't worth listening to.

Buy it, play it, love it. It is one of the best games of all-time.

Yeah, I meant to say "the art of movement".

    ...

Whatever it is, we shouldn't have to choose between the camera moving properly during motion and the camera moving properly during aiming. And by properly I mean "however the player chooses to set the controls".

Mario Kart is fun at any age and always will be. The fact that you think otherwise automatically invalidates your opinion on anything else ever.

Nope, still just the one. Took me forever to get used to it.

That's pretty much it. You run around the city, you take on main/side missions. You can also collect shards to up your energy, or satellite uplinks for some background story. There are also randomly generated gang members roaming around, their frequency depends on whether or not you've "taken" the section of the city you are in. Rolling into a blackout area looking for a fight can get nuts.

nope, didn't find time to try anything else out yet, but i have MGS4, uncharted and KZ2 borrowed from a friend, gonna check those out as soon as i get a chance to.

i did check some videos of flower though, gotta say i don't think it's something i'd personally enjoy, but i also don't see the point in getting so angry over other people enjoying it.

Would it be confused storyline wise if I hadn't played the other 3 before buying MGS4?

Nah, the patriot is the best for the motorcycle chase, kekekekekekeke. Not having to reload makes it silly easy, you just hold the trigger down and spam the aim button so that the camera constantly jolts to where the game wants you to look.

I'm looking to try MGS on Extreme with the whole no kills, items or alerts deal for Big Boss, and I've gotta say, the first 30 minutes and the chase scene easily look like some of the hardest parts. Though from the attempts I've made already, the rest isn't exactly a cake walk.
But I was trying without the solar gun, so I went back and killed all the bosses non-lethally on the 2nd hardest setting, without recovery items (I wanted the practice!) which was quite fun. I think with the solar gun, it should be easier to sneak around, assuming you don't get spotted firing the gun.

I still haven't managed to get the solar gun, thank you very much Crying Wolf. Use the Mosin Nagant variant, I know, I know.

For that matter, a large reason MGS4 is such a great game is that you can play it so many different ways. I listened to the official podcast the first time through and started laughing when they commented no-one on the first run would be hearing them talk, since the SolidEye is better than the iPod.

Metal Gear is all about story, so yeah you would be more Lost then Hugo Reyes.

And yeah, I highly agree about infamous being a let down. I liked the demo a lot more then the actual game and thats saying something. I got to bored to quick. Worth a playthrough via rent but I could never see myself buying it since I would never replay.

4 play throughs and I still haven't listened to the commentaries, solid eye is just a little bit too good. I think I might end up listening to them when I do some of the stupid challenges upon completion, like spending an hour under a box, or doing 100 sideways rolls, etc...

You can still play through MGS4, you just wont understand much of the story for a while. The story is so contrived that it goes over most peoples heads anyway, and there's a ridiculous amount of exposition (literally hundreds of flashbacks and references to goings on in other games) and if you're confused, you can just call Otacon and he'll explain everything to you.

My only real problem with Metal Gear Solid 4 is that there really isn't actually a real need to stealth, for the most part. The controls are no longer limiting (in that if you got an alert, it would be inevitable you'd die because you couldn't deal with the onslaught of enemies) and they give you too many weapons, too much ammo and for the most part the enemy AI is thick as pig shit. You can just as easily run through an area spraying with a P90/LMG as you can spend carefully sneaking around the back of the map, carefully tranquilizing and moving bodies as you go. There doesn't seem like much of a reward for stealthing through particular areas.

Previous games had that need though, mostly due to the reasons mentioned, but also because usually the story line demanded it ("Snake, you can't use weapons in this room, it's full of nukes!") which added extra challenge to the game.

Infamous was for me everything that Mirror's Edge should have been, so I'm wondering what others are comparing it to when they say 'meh' as much as they are in this thread. What were you expecting? It's a superhero game. It's Spiderman with lightning bolts out the ass, cussing and no hang-ups about 'great responsibility.' It's also by far the best game I own on my PS3.

I didn't get all the hubub about mirror's edge, to me that game would have been 10000x better if they had made it in 3rd person. Seems dumb to be doing all sorts of crazy parkour/freerunning moves if you can't see yourself actually do them. No to mention I died like 50x in the demo cuz I couldnt see where my feet were.

Infamous certainly piques my interest but if it's as short as everyone says that puts it in the same league of "good games that aren't long enough to be worth $60" like Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Heavenly Sword, and maybe Prince of Persia (all of which I loved, mind you). I'll almost def. pick it up (Prototype too) but not until I can find it for less than $30 bucks or so.

I can't stand all the infamous hype. If it wasn't a PS3 exclusive, no one would be talking about it. Wanna know why?

Prototype has 1000% more content, more moves, more over the top action, better platforming, and is actually fun to play. Yet no one talks about it.

That reminds me of my one major disappointment with the game.
    Spoiler: show
Standing in that very room, I shot the warheads .... and nothing happened! It just got a little dent in the side, lame.
    Spoiler: show
I was hoping for a white screen with black text that said "You were expecting a cool explosion? We do not reward failure." which was the end result of losing an old Cold War geopol sim game.

I'd buy the game if it included options so that I could configure the camera controls properly. Exploring and fighting and having fun in the three island city isn't going to happen if doing so costs reprogramming my intuitive camera joystick movements, and the same goes for clunky controls in any similar game.

So, the Prototype demo is available... when?
