What will your goal be in FFXIV?

I've known several people who, when starting FFXI, didn't care about things like HNMs and gear, and mostly just explored and joined social LSs.

Eventually, people left their social LSs behind and migrated into HNMLSs and started doing regular events and actually caring about camping NMs.

Now that you've had this experience, and are more conscious of activities outside of mere exploration and socializing, what will you do when FFXIV comes out?

Explore the world and succesfully quit before getting addicted.

Quests and missions. Hopefully as casually as ever. I have no intentions of getting into end game or fretting over every single gear choice. I want to experience the stories it has to tell and have a life in the mean time.

Either that, or start crafting straight away, become filthy rich, and control my servers economy with my massive amount of money!

Explore a new world, meet some new companions to do shit with, get a good overall grasp of the story, then branch-out from there once the 'fresh' feel of a new MMO is over and resort down to tedious grinding, or quit.

Aye, gonna take it as slowly as possible and when (if) I get to endgame in few years, I'll do stuff like assaults or nyzul isle if there's anything like that.

Probably go from social or semi HNM and explore. I doubt there'll be much time to take advantage of new things since the JPs might have beaten us to it already.

I'll do what I do in most MMOs that don't force group play on you; Screw around by myself in a massive world for as long as possible before I hit the arbitrary walls of 'More-than-one-meat-bag-ville.'

It should be noted that having friends to interact with occasionally to do stuff together purely out of friendship is markedly different from being in an organized group that you feel obligated to aid and engage in. I don't have a problem with the groups in and of themselves; if nothing in the game calls for such organization, it probably lacks real depth. I just don't think I should be expected to be in a clan if I can enjoy myself outside of one.

The two things I like best in FFXI are the game world and personal advancement. FFXIV looks like it'll improve both, so I expect to enjoy those aspects more.

I had plenty of days where i could sit in front of the computer from when i woke up to when i went to sleep. Those days are gone for me, i'll be lucky to accomplish anything i was able to in ffxi.

BKs got some slight masochistic tendencies. Much like everyone else in FFXI. Some are just more vocal about it than others.

This, pretty much. I've been in the military since way before I started playing FFXI at NA release (then I quit due to time constraints and came back in late 2005 and this time haven't quit - even though my time constraints are even worse than they were when I quit the first time), and my time has only gotten shorter and shorter for all the while I've played it. I doubt my time will be any better come FFXIVs release. I'll still try it, see if I can have fun with it, see if this 'enhanced singleplayer/casual' experience actually works out. I imagine at some point though you're going to need steady groups and I really can't maintain anyone's attendance requirements so I'll just get left behind in the end.



Here's to hoping it'll still be some fun. If not, at least I'll be able to just sit back and watch the rain in some really beautiful landscapes (hopefully).

This time around I'd like to get more into the raiding scene then I did in FFXI. I feel like now I have a better perception of MMO's as a whole as opposed to when FFXI was my first MMO and I really had no idea what I was doing.

Don't have the time to get bogged down in endgame anymore, unless it is markedly different than FFXI.

If I've learned one thing from FFXI, even more so after having my character stolen and gone forever, is to be greedy in MMO's. I use it in WoW as well. If you are nice, if you are friendly, that's all well and good and you can still do that. But being greedy gets you places, taking advantage of loot when you can, money when you can, etc.

I've held several peoples kraken clubs for up to an hour, and gave them back. I feel pretty shitty now. I'm still really nice, and sociable, fun to be around, but my main goal has always been since FFXI to get to the top of the game and stay there. It has worked out.

I plan on jumping in and doing whatever I can to level fast and get into a end game situation fast.

2/3 + Crafting. Always was jealous of the first JP crafters who had a stranglehold on the high tier GS market for a good 2 years before any NA hit 100. Got rich enough to buy relics 10 times over.

Honestly, I really liked FFXI, but I never got that into it before when it was early enough to really accomplish something, or get into a decent LS, so I'm hoping I can get into the game and try to keep up a decent pace and get to experience the endgame stuff at some point.

I guess I look like the only one so far who wants to dive into endgame in 14 headfirst. I've always lagged behind people really far in other games, this time I wouldn't mind switching it and pioneering something. Of course I love exploring and learning the lore and the story, but I'm not sure how many friends from 11 are going to be coming over to 14 anyway, so my focus will probably be endgame pretty much from the time I'm high enough to do it (unless the endgame for 14 is even worse/more retarded than 11's).

Personally going to use FFXIV to pick up hot chicks, then murder them and bury them in my backyard. That is my GOAL in FFXIV.
