Yea anything that can be stunned /drk prolly is alot better. My favorite fight is SW Serket. Just go all out to hold hate and let your BLM MB sam+thf light and drop it in 5 vollies. Hell even 4 vollies if your blms are crazy enough.
sad part is, this new JA may make some ppl be like "wow, nins can tank now".
i too have been following Richs LJ a lot, seeing why he does things, to give me ideas on how to improve. through both public posts and PMs, he has helped answer a lot of questions i wouldnt have found otherwise. but unfortunately, it may not matter. PLDs will always have room for error and be friendlier on the tank support staff, no matter what, and that will keep them as primary choice.
btw rich, with these new head augments, you see nins can now reach the 25% magic dmg taken cap in CP areas and 22% in non-CP?
you read my mind! another topic i was talking to mojo with. he was more excited about the mage stuff and claimed that full morrigan wasnt going to be the best nuking set anymore.
i thought of it more of my DD playstyle, with the extra 2% ws dmg, but since i use sam the most as DD, and it has overwhelm etc etc, i didnt think much of it.
i wouldve went the MDB route too lol. put the -magic on it with the fast cast. woulda been great for something like AV!
and thanks a million for the compliments. when i still played, i used ruke's LJ as my guide. he did this 2006 nin macro guide and i tell you man... that guy was way ahead of his time. till today, thats still the best ninja endgame tanking guide i ever seen. There are some things ppl cant teach. you need to get experience for it. I used to have a habit of casting ichi whenever i saw a 'ga expecting it to hit. I would switch to MDB gear and press ALT+2, and wait for it. by the time the animation finishes, youll already have shadows up for the attack round right after and things like that. Thats how my lag worked. idk about anybody else. but hang in there man. your time will come. actions speak louder than words, and you're a smart guy. your nin is gonna surpass me and ruke np as time goes by!
fuck that thing man!i went after that a million times. never got lucky when turning in the ??? hat!
thank for the compliment!!!
i too had found rukes nin macros a while back, but played solely on the ps2. so while i found them informative, they were beyond me for the most part due to limited macro space.
i had thought about doing the DD/WS route for the head gear, but honestly, endgame wise, nin isnt called upon to deal damage. that is left to the blms, sams, drks, wars, and more recently the resurgence of rngs. sad that ppl have forgotten over the years rngs can deal out 2nd highest damage in most zergs if geared properly, behind a multihit drk.
i am finishing up rng myself, lvl 60 and climbing and am enjoying it. but my true calling it towards nin. not sure why it is, maybe that it is a big underdog in the tanking world atm (hell, i was even told recently that nins fail at tanking omega most times) but i still love it. to all you true nins out there, fight the good fight and show those lazy ass aegis carrying fucks how its done!!

and with the fact that the second rebuild of evangelion movie just came out, SE really is lacking in ideas (the defensive one: Yonin even shares the same color as A.T. Fields)
the design of Yonin and Innin is more inspired by Taoist principles..
in Taoism, the yin yang symbol is usually framed by an octagon with 8 symbols, known as the ba gua (8 diagrams)
Yo represents light (yang) and In represents darkness (yin), so the colors used are not unexpected.
even the way the JAs work echos this sentiment. other than the fact that their bonuses are all directly oppposed, the positioning suggest that the ninja and the enemy are fighting atop a yinyang diagram and that the ninja assumes his position on 1 side of the symbol
evangelion thing more than likely to be conincidence
I wanna see a screenshot of Zelduh with BST as main job...
Here's hoping Yonin will cause a price drop in Shiehi =3
I'm very curious about just how potent the tools expertise will be, as well as the enhanced ninjutsu damage. NIN/BLM may yet rise from the grave.
slightly off topic... the whole argument over meteor being elemental or non-elemental reminds me of posts over mijin being fire-based magic damage and whms swearing their capped shell 5 and capped barspells keeps their parties alive in dynamis or those tanks there died due to wearing BQ rings
Uh its still magic based so shell 5 WILL help. Not to mention when you merit barspells it adds MDB regardless of what barelement so that helps as well.
I believe this merits your own sig.

Thought I missed something where Nin/Bst spamming charm was the new shizzy with these abilities.
Charm does have the interesting quirk of producing no VE, but a high amount of CE, roughly the same as a flash or cure III.
Nevermind though, missed the odd derail, and only barely caught the nin in yonin so you can put nin innin yonin while yonin, dawg.
i'm sorry, but i failed to convey the true meaning. the shell 5 thing i know, however for a long time the entire argument was fire carol and barfira specifially reduced damage take, due to the thought that mijin was fire based.
also, mijin being non-elemental, i believe it is also indirect magic damage, such as bio/dia/etc. not saying it is a DoT, just indirect. i say this due to JoTemp being immune to direct magic damage like burst, ninjutsu wheel, and such, but being able to sustain normal damage from Mijin
Hmm... I don't mean to interrupt anything, but this does seem rather familiar to me.
When RDM's Composure came out in the Update notes, I'm almost certain many people weren't satisfied with it. At least, that's what I remember.
When it actually came out ingame, it's usage was better received because of how potent it's increased duration to buffs was. Buffs like Haste went from 3mins to 9mins. Refresh went from 2min 30s to 7min 30s. Certainly, that has some usefulness to it.
Another thing was people worrying about the recast penalty on Composure. Many people thought the recast penalty would be terrible, but it ended up only being 25% extra, which was much less than expected... so I remember.
So for something like Yonin, perhaps the ACC penalty isn't as bad as people are fearing it to be. For something like Innin, perhaps the penalty to evasion and enmity won't be that terrible.
The only thing that bothers me is the positioning... that I'm sure will be the biggest problems with these. Sometimes strict positioning like that isn't really possible in certain situations. Personally, I don't believe that the positioning requirement was necessary, but that depends on how potent these abilities are.
Plus, what if they scale with level? What if the ACC bonus of Innin is better as a 75NIN than a 40NIN, for example? A bit like how Hasso receives more STR based on the level of the SAM. Who knows how potent they may get higher up. But now I'm rambling, sorry.
In the end, these sound like at the very least, that they will have their situational uses. Besides, one can't really argue about getting new JAs, yes? Well, except MNK Footwork... I'm still not sure about that one.
