I think instead of having the condition be You must be behind the mob just make it activate when the mobs attention is not on the nin. That takes away the silly directional req.

As with pld, neither job ability will make nin a must have for merit pty's (more like a "fill the slot with a nin cuz we cant find another DD" situation). As for other endgame or pre-endgame xp grinds idk enough about nin to say yay or nay.
Neglected? By most people, probably.
Useless?

DPS: 19.69 Yeah, real god damn useless right there >
Oh and let's not forget these;

^ I for one am looking forward to throwing 1 of these in Maat's face lmao.
Those are good Examples, But what he meant was, The shits to Expensive. NIN's aren't Leveling Throwing Skill at the Joygasm of being able to throw those Weapons.
We all know Shuriken have insane DPS, and in theory look good, but the fact is they cost too much to make them useful, Unless you got money coming out your butt and high enough craft to just HQ your own Shuriken... even then its enough to run your bank dry in due time.
Its not thats it bad, Its just ... Not Reliable? 50k on a Stack of Shuriken that probably wouldn't last you a Single party if you threw them once per minute is not a fun way to throw your money down the drain.
I capped my Throwing skill on NIN while helping a friend break a Latent on their Weapon, it was something to do, And i have a stack of Juji Shuriken on me most of the time cause they're cheap. but i could never imagine spending 50k or MORE for 99 Manji Shuriken... it'd go to quickly... However, they do drop off some yagudo mobs in singles, which those are fun to toss at Stuff.
And yah, the Wind, I tossed one at a mob before, i forgot the damage but it WAS fun, just not Reliable =D
That DPS number is not an accurate reflection of their performance. There are other delays and modifiers that aren't taken into account. They're alright for 50-60, but beyond that, katanas become stronger. Juji Shurikens are good 28-40 too, although it's a niche thing either way (doesn't really help 99% of the ninjas out there and are moot in the endgame.)
Ninjas: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHJob Adjustments and Additions Part II (07/07/2009)
Dark Knight:
The enmity produced for following spells and job abilitys is being reduced dramaticly:
- Stun
- Bind
- Sleep
- Souleater
- Last Resort
- Weapon Bash
With these adjustments Dark Knight's will have more survivability in combat and become more durable fighters.
(btw... I'm just kidding, but I could really imagin anything like that from SE)
It wouldn't hurt if there were actual throwing WS. Not that people would really go mad with the throwing spam, but if there were good throwing weapon skills that did fairly good damage, why not? Would at least bring some usage to the throwing skill, without totally breaking the bank.
Ninja tool expertise should also factor in for shuriken.
sad thing is, i can? remember a few years ago when ppl realized how much hate mazuka(sp) hate on it, which let to BRD tanking? that got nerfed real quick.
and as far as the whole survivability of drks by reducing that enmity... we have a drk that dies often enough that we don't consider it an official event until he dies. guy likes to pop off SE/LR+WS on the first occasion he gets 100tp. see this happen far to often, so i doubt it will help drks high mortality rate
And my point was if money was no object you'd be seeing shuriken spam out the window as they have insane DPS even for a ranged weapon (which also means they have less damage restrictions than melee)
I didn't tank with Voke when I first leveled Nin as a sub.
I had Archer's knives, Racc gear, Sushi, and spammed the shit out of Shuriken.
Knocked nice meaty chunks off mobs and pointed them back towards me.
Really fun, but yeah, just gets stupid expensive.
As for Nin, I was always thinking about leveling it from time to time, been playing with it recently, bout to hit 50 and been noticing Nin/Rdm is kinda like being on Pld/Nin.
Aquaveil: for when you forget how to count to 3.
Getting knocked back by a goblin rush and still having Ichi finish from 70% made me guffaw and shout "HAH, FUCK YOU!" at a digital goblin on my TV.
on topic... Nin originally was not intended to tank. People figured it out and eventually SE made it more viable with additions and updates to it. These new updates dont seem to far off yet. Practical applications aside... Once the update happens and Nin try these out we will have better idea.
slightly off topic... was not so long ago Pld were left out of stuff due to nin. So when it reverses we have Pld being ok and nin not so good people gripe. I guess it is expected since when Nin were the choice Pld griped as well. My personal preference when i leveled blm pre-cop and even during was Pld tank. They could keep hate off me better. I cant even count as high as the exp loss i had from shitty Nin tanks. I'll admit sometime was my mistake for going chernobyl but mostly was due to lazy, cheap nin.
off topic... Blm i feel should get some new toys. I say this cause i have been playing it since NA release of game and can tell you the little nerfs and tweaks over the years added up to the point where its a pain. End game blm of pretty much anything 50-60 plus is solo/manaburn/campaign for exp. I hate manaburns... soloing is so time consuming and boring so it leaves me with campaign.
Something like a few new spells... better mp conserve stuff and -enmity would be nice. Plus adding more mobs that blm can kill for exp. Unless you have played blm a long time i dont think you really have much room to speak about the job. We have some nice stuff but are severely limited. We can do more than what people want... even more so if it not targeted at spell mimicking tucan/flamingo.
screw you tucamingoes!
Interesting stuff for NIN, although I doubt I'll play it any more than I do at present (or indeed log in more often than I do now, which is infrequently).
Is BST getting buffed this update or do not enough people play it anymore for SE to think it's worthwhile? Seems like the forgotten job at this point, dropped off the radar.
