If you've got it installed, mind posting some pics? Or some links to what it's actually like for those of us who haven't seen any ingame screenshots or descriptions?
YouTube - Neotokyo Gameplay #001 TDM is a good video example of the last build they previewed before this launch.
(Please note in that video the player is lagging to shit because hes playing from Japan on a Chicago server.)
For a more realtime/non-lossy gameplay. You can check out this older build/video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0ewU...eature=related
It's just an online competitive mod I'm taking it? Got 40min left on the download (which is going as fast as my net can handle, damn nice as far as torrents are concerned for me)
I was getting around 1-2mb dl/sec, so yeah. Health of the torrent is A+ compared to site downloads.
Also, just a few simple shots I took.
Spoiler: show
Also music is top-notch just like they promised in the soundtrack set they released.
I was exceited for this. After playing for a few hours I have come to the conclusion that it sucks utter shit. if I wanted to play a shitty counter strike clone, I would have bought Counter Strike on steam. I already hate counter strike as it is, maybe I'll try the deathmatch, but I have no real hopes.
Robots with nipples. I learn something new everyday.

Looks a bit like a cross between Killzone and Counter strike, with some kind of Blade Runner type thing going on too.
Looks pretty fun though, I might check it out in the near future!
fairly interested after watching the youtube stuff, downloading it.

So basically this is a wannabe Dystopia?
There are no cyberspace layers, and there are no "jack-in" terminals, etc. So no.
ABOUT : NEOTOKYO°
The Neotokyo soundtrack is pretty good
Only a torrent?
edit: I should check things before I post. Well never mind on the direct link torrent is going faster than I thought
Yeaaaaaaah. This game is worse than CS. /uninstall
I see no problem with this every shooter is the same just different setting like this.
Keep in mind that this is still the first release, I'm pretty sure CS wasn't perfect on its original release also.
First off, saying CS is horrible (I'm guessing your referring to 1.6 since you just said Counter-Strike) is kinda of a big lol. You must be trolling, since the game has been in the top 5 selling First-person shooters for years now still.
As for NeoTokyo, the only things you could compare between them is;
A. Shooting guns
B. Bad guy versus Good guy teams
C. Wide array of main weapon choice
Other than that, I don't see where Counter-Strike follows anywhere close to the model that this game is building. If you were to say a hybrid of Raven Shield and so on. Then I guess you could dispute that.
The mod has its flaws, but overall it provides decent entertainment. You have to realize this is just a small free mod made by a small group of people. It isn't trying to be the next TF2 or CS. It is just trying to be a semi-difficult futuristic straight out shooter, and it succeeded at doing that. If you are the type that hated CS because of it's difficulty curve, then you probably won't like this. But it is indeed a fun game once you get good at the shooting mechanics of it.
A few people I've been playing with over the past few days have been taking note of flaws along the way. First (and the biggest) I would have to say is the visual UI. Currently the game lacks a friendly/non-friendly system of identifying team members easily (Other than zooming scoped in on your weaponry and the "+" symbols indicating regiment). Especially for new players. If they implement a system similar to (Left 4 Dead, many other games have this simple design). It would help the game out alot in terms of ease for newer players.
Strong tactics are rewarded within the game, if your not using your mic. Or not communicating well with your team. Your probably not going to get that far. I've tried to avoid alltalk servers mainly because of this. With strategy as I mentioned, playing on many of the maps is especially easy. For example, have on guy as recon, one as support, stay together, camp or capture the ghost, relay positions, use therm optic effectively. A good support can use thermal to see optic camo's cold signature. Motion vision is crap, so is night vision. If a support gets cornered, he should pop smoke on his and his enemies' position, go thermal and charge.
As for the current bitching, I've been reading across many forums of people QQ'ing about "Muzzle flashing" not being in the game, or there being no "Hit indicator" system. While I do agree it would be nice to show where bullets are being shot from with some type of motion sensing equipment. I feel it would take away from the realistic tactical nature of the game.
Anyways, goes to show you I guess how games such as Left 4 Dead (Friendly fire system is almost non existant in L4D) or how TF2 (Muffle flash, along with directional showing of where bullets are being fired) have babied us over the years. Taken aside these aren't bad games at all (I frequently play TF2 weekly).
But this is a completely different breed of game, never-the-less free and just released. There will be updates, many fixes and enhancements in the months to come.
Wall-o-text over, but anyone saying this is just a "CS clone" or watered down version of it, don't really have a clue what they just played.
