If you're going to take the time to wire a house up with 'net, may as well use fiber. Your competitive side demands it. Admit it.

I would probably upgrade to a 48 port switch as you will be filling almost every port in the 24-port switch and router. It's better to prepare now for future expansion than daisy chain another switch into the mix later.

^ This, and could use another jack on the back wall in the basement, just for neatness sake. Also, it would be informative to know where the power outlets are going.

Also, look into PoE. Power over ethernet. If you purchase AP's that can run on it, you don't have to have power outlets in the ceiling for them. You can just purchase a PoE capable switch and AP's.

:E I would if it was my place, but for him it's a bit excessive.

The 24 will barely be used fully, chances are only ~10 would be used at a time, just filling in the rest of the switch for whatever future reasons. 48s are crazy expensive too if you go the gigabit path.

For the price/features that 24 port is extremly nice.

Also he's an commerical electrician, so he already wired for the APs, though I didnt know there were PoE APs, it's been awhile since I looked into newish things, ill have to keep that in mind for the future.

The back wall is stone Power outlets are everywhere, but this is more of an idea sketch rather than a set in stone one, so one reason why it looks crappy. Was more or less worried about what hardware to get rather than where to run wires.

    Thanks for the tips/ideas.
