Yes lol, I wasn't disagreeing with your post really, just saying that INT wasn't the only thing going into play. Yigit Gages should have been listed as well, but like Crackows they're only a minor upgrade over Errant/Mahatma.
Helices are still calculated the same as normal nukes(it's basically Aero II if I recall correctly), Moldy/Novio are still both individually going to beat an INT+2 earring.
MAB Earrings/Yigit Gages win over the other mentioned items.
Its not because of resistance. The base damage of a helix spell is essentially the same as Aero I, meaning that if your target's INT is too high, you're going to get zeroed out. Generally this isn't an issue with elemental spells, because tier3 and tier4 magic has significantly higher base damage, but when its a tier1 spell, its cause for concern.
I thought it was Aero II, but they have the same INT multiplier either way, just not sure exactly the right base D value.
How do you auto translate in windower macros? Wanted to make a macro for a /shout since the ingame macros let you type a lot less per line
As far as I know, this is the best Helix setup possible [Cryohelix] (This includes TaruTaru as the race.)Helix Damage

Add in Intelligence merits with Hailstorm Stormsurge bonus for a grand total of 166 Intelligence.
Edit: Could replace Goliard for Yigit not sure.
That is in fact pretty brutal, lol.
Actually I probably have to retract my earlier statement, with a base D that low Yigit/Goliard feet would probably be dead even if not having Goliard slightly ahead. Ulti's post would in fact be ideal.
So, I'm debating coming back.... been gone for about 7 months, and have wanted to play. I'm sure I'll play for about 2 weeks and then quit, but oh well.
When I left I sold ALL of my gear, and then gave a bit of gil to friends and sold the rest. So I'll be starting from scratch basically. I have BLM 75 with a few Rare/Ex pieces but I never did Salvage or HNM. (So I have Af2 Head/Hands/Pants, AF1, Oracle's Robe/Legs, Obis and a few other things). Plus my MNK is 75, but I have no Rare/Ex gear for it, since I syncd it to 75 right before I quit.
I loved BLM, but I want to play a serious DD job...
Which would be easiest to gear largely from AH, and be decently geared? I don't plan on being hardcore, so no HNM or anything. I might use my BLM to do sky and get some gear.
I also have CC100 w/ all subs, and an unfinished LC mule @ 99 no subs for gil making.
I'm thinking either RNG(51 atm), or WAR(40 atm)?
For BLM it sounds like you basically just need Staves/Rings/Cape and Errant legs to get started, if you have Yigit hands/feet hanging around by chance you'd be in really decent shape to start. Aquilo's Staff is rather cheap lately which is always a nice piece to start with, and a lot more LS will be looking to hand shit to a plainly-geared BLM than a poorly-geared MNK.
I totally forget what I have. I do have Zenith Mitts(never got to uncurse my -1 -.-), Yigit Feet, Moldy/Loq/Abyssal, Tamas and probably somethings Im forgetting.
MNK would need WAY too much work to get to a reasonable state.
I was wondering more what DD class is easier to gear cheaply and largely from AH gear. I assume RNG is the easiest because I wouldn't need BHaidate or Swift/V Belt, etc.
RNG is far from the easiest/cheapest IMO, several slots don't really have decent AH options, the hands slot is pretty much exclusively Seiryu or Salvage, there aren't a lot of half-decent bows or xbows that are AH-able for relatively cheap(I think Cobra Bow and Amanowhatever are the only decent ones, and Selene's sucks ass to get in my experiences). There aren't really any decent reasonably cheap AH-able legs or feet either that I can think of(Hume/Mithra RSE boots aren't bad iirc).
Ah, camping wouldnt be totally out of the question. if I have the time I'd definitely camp for Vali's/OBow and even PCC perhaps.
I remember the Paluwhan Legs not being so bad for RNG?
What would you recommend for a cheap DD to level and actually enjoy?
SAM or WAR probably have the most damage potential with mediocre gear since they're naturally strong jobs, obviously you won't be comparable to the people who do actually have higher end pieces like Haidate and such but you can at the very least not be a total detriment to your party with AH junk.
WAR is loads of fun to actually play imo, GAxe weaponskills are great, but like I said the difference between being geared and not being geared is pretty massive.
