I'll probably start leveling my WAR up then. I'll probably remember why I quit after a week or two, but if I keep going for a while I'll probably use my BLM to join a sky shell and start getting some gear. I can decently gear a WAR with only doing sky.

Any idea how I can get Yarnball to show individual durations for each member of a party that I've buffed with a Roll as Corsair?

    Something like this:
    Corsair's Roll (Member 1)
    Corsair's Roll (Member 2)
    Corsair's Roll (Member 3)
    Corsair's Roll (Member 4)
    Corsair's Roll (Member 5)
    Corsair's Roll (Member 6)
    Hunter's Roll (Member 1)
    Hunter's Roll (Member 2)
    Hunter's Roll (Member 3)
    Hunter's Roll (Member 4)
    Evoker's Roll (Member 5)
    Evoker's Roll (Member 6)

I could have sworn I've seen something like this before.

    halp me understand k

So on sam I usually ws for between like 550-800 (using gekko and snow gorget)
Sometimes though I ws for as high as 1400 (rarely)
What's the deal? I usually watch my tp return and can tell when I DA and a lot of times that I DA it doesn't make that huge kind of difference.
Make me a better sam and tell me what's up with this.

edit: I wanna just clarify that these numbers are all taken from a recent bird party at 75, all from the same mobs.

Probably a bit late on this for helix but months/years ago i did a spreadsheet with helix formal and it told me once i hit 50(ish) int over a mob 1 mab is adding as much dmg as 1 int. So what im trying to say is max dmg is dependant on mobs int. If you can easily get over 50 int higher then a mob then at that point adding mab is greater returns then int. Also for the ears novio will almost always beat 2 int earring but moldavite would fall short under a certain int level (novio does to but its a lot higher). As far as getting 50 over a mob any thing exp/merit level thats fairly easy to cap out on. Now if your going for a helix resist set that's a different story for gearring up. (int/skill>>>>>>mab)

I cranked some numbers using this calculator: FF XI - Magic Damage Calculator , and you're actually right that often, when comparing 1 INT and 2 MAB (Yigit vs Mahatma hands, and Yigit vs Goliard feet) they will be dead even. For a Taru SCH/RDM with INT merits, assuming HQ staff, single weather, and Ebullience, 2 MAB will win when the target has 50 or less INT, 1 INT will win when the target has 110 or more INT, and in the middle they are exactly the same. As far as I know, only some HNMs have more than 110 INT, and at that point a helix does so little damage that it usually isn't worth the MP cost. For that reason, I choose to go with the Yigit hands and feet.

edit: This is the gear that I used for calculations, since it's what I use: http://ffxigear.com/?ref=13599 Maat's Cap or a MKD hat would change these numbers only slightly.

When I left I sold ALL of my gear, and then gave a bit of gil to friends and sold the rest. So I'll be starting from scratch basically. I have BLM 75 with a few Rare/Ex pieces but I never did Salvage or HNM. (So I have Af2 Head/Hands/Pants, AF1, Oracle's Robe/Legs, Obis and a few other things). Plus my MNK is 75, but I have no Rare/Ex gear for it, since I syncd it to 75 right before I quit.

I loved BLM, but I want to play a serious DD job...

Which would be easiest to gear largely from AH, and be decently geared? I don't plan on being hardcore, so no HNM or anything. I might use my BLM to do sky and get some gear.

I also have CC100 w/ all subs, and an unfinished LC mule @ 99 no subs for gil making.

I'm thinking either RNG(51 atm), or WAR(40 atm)?
Sounds like a bit (a lot) of gil would get your BLM ready to rock.

As for a serious DD, I would say SAM.
    TP
    Hagun
    Pole
    Lightning bow+1
    Turban*
    PCC
    Burtal*
    Bush*
    Osode/hauby
    Hachiman kote
    rajas*
    Acc ring
    Cuc mantel/foragers
    swift*
    byakkos*
    Fuma sune-ate

    6/15 are rare ex.
    Swift should be fairly easy
    Brutal can be effectively bought
    Bush earring has viable replacements
    Turban, everyone can get one
Rajas is another 'easy' one if you have complete CoP
Byakkos is the only 'Hard' piece.

The story for WS is about the same, 70% of the gear is AH.

This is not to say that is the perfect sam, but you can make a very good sam with only a bit of rare/ex stuff.

I've been trying to level COR pretty quickly, and I find myself pulling most of the time so I usually /NIN. I typically do a hybrid of meleeing and shooting in between pulls/rolls, but at 51 I'm wondering if I should go to Vulcan's Staff and just shoot for TP? Then when I get Slug Shot, should I go back to meleeing to increase WS frequency? And what swords or daggers should I use if not Vulcan's?

I feel kinda stupid asking this considering how long we've been running Dynamis (almost a year) but our usual pullers aren't going to be there this weekend and we're doing Windy and so its up to me to set this up.

I'm fine with the path, which NMs etc we need, how to pull them and how to get the times. The only thing I've never been involved in is setting up pulling Loo Hepe the Eyepiercer, the NM at the tree.

I know he pops from or on aggro of a stat at the portal that would get you into the tree and that a bunch of stats pop on and at the bottom of the ramp. So I assume a sac is needed to pop em or to grab the NM. But where do you run to - up past the death house and pop that?

At our best we've had over 90 mins of farming left after Boss kill, cleared out death house and pops to waters but we're lower numbers and have a few new players now.

How do you do/deal with this pull?

I've been doing the same as you, trying to level COR quickly, in spite of reduced playtime lately.

When I dinged 55, I "rented" a Mercurial Kris from the AH for 3.3M. If you can stomach that cost, it'll change the job a LOT for you once you have Slug Shot. With it, it's reasonable to melee for TP and blow the TP on Slugs. Plus you can sell it back if you want later, when you get Joyeuse. Some people just keep Mercurial Kris and ignore Joyeuse, depending on their other jobs and what they have meritted.

Prior to Slug Shot, though, I just stuck with the good old Archer's Knife, shooting for TP, as I never felt my ranged accuracy was good enough to switch to Vulcan's.

My Dynamis LS hasn't sac'd this NM in forever. We just do a full circle (counter-clockwise) around the tree.

First, we do the MNK NM. We usually try to clear as many mobs as possible that are nearby, and once that's done, we just pull the NM. Someone usually ES/Sleep II's it to make 100% sure it sticks while we deal with the other mobs, then we just Gravity the MNK and the BLM's nuke him down or at least force Hundred Fists ... nice way to make the NM harmless.

Then we do the SMN NM in the same fashion. This can get hairy, because with so many SMN mobs up at once, the sleepers have to be razor-sharp to avoid Astral Flow. Every so often we have one go off, but it's not frequent.

Next is the BLM NM, same thing there. Approaching the BLM NM from the north makes it a lot easier to pull without needing a sac, in my opinion.

Last is the RDM NM (sorry for all the extra info you didn't need/ask for). For this, we start by clearing the "death house" (easy if you approach from the north). We then call a timed -ga III on the statues on the bridge (6 of them). We then cross the bridge and go around the tree counter-clockwise, clearing all the mobs. When we reach the RDM NM, it's pretty easy to kill it without a sac. The statue that spawns it also spawns several other statues, so there's a decent number of mobs and statues to deal with, but this NM is not lethal as long as he is silenced so it's easy to deal with. My only real tip for this one is, either pop poison pots or have your healers keep at a good distance, because these statues like to open with Sleepga II.

    Hope this helps.

Yeah I think it might just be simpler for us to kill our way around - we don't usually have a problem with this. I just really had a complete blank on it. I know we have sac'd it before. I'd rather not pop the death house until we're ready to go poke it.

RDM should never full-time any one single body. Morrigan's is for idle/nuking/WS.

what is the lowest level that a player can be where they can still earn substantial exp in campaign in la vaule? with that goes, what's the lowest level a player can be without getting assraped every 10 seconds in there? and finally, and this is kind of a noob question, but having never been to la vaule, where do you get tags inside, and does one have to enter from jugner (and can one get there from the C.A. post?) or can you warp there?

Depending on what type of job. DD jobs around 62+, Mage jobs probably a little bit lower. Since its based on what you're doing during campaign.

I've never campaigned there myself, but I know you do have to enter @ Jugner, but pretty sure the tags guy is right at the entrance if it isn't owned, not sure about when it is.

I think the mobs themselves are pretty much the same as every other zone, the main issue is the shitty layout of the areas where the forts are that makes them all crowd in super tight so you can't really just pick one off, on top of it being hard to find a safe spot to fight without getting aggro from the normal zone mobs.

    My view of RDM bodies:

    AF: Constant effect enfeebles
Mahatma: Resting, variable effect enfeebles, nuking before morrigans
    Morrigans: Idle, nuking, WS
Relic: Fastcast on enchancing magic (refresh, haste etc) and shadows.
Goliard: Main healing, convert for low HP races, TP low eva mobs
    Nashira: Stun, drain, aspir
Crimson Scale Mail: Convert for low hp races, nuking before morrigans
Dalmatica: Idle, convert for high HP races
SH/Antares Harness: TP on high eva mobs
    Darksteel: PDT
    Corral: MDT
Ixion Cloak: situational idle (or idle before you get refresh body AND head)
    Glamor Jupon: Maxing Phalanx (II)

*Probability missed some* *For normal RDM duties you should only need 3-5 of them*

The only benefit of full timing morrigans is you may get 1-2 extra MP over the course of casting the spell, but 99% of the time you are better off swapping to a piece that will improve the spell (or just cast it faster so you can move on to the next spell or idle).

Is Alkalroups good for BRD? in other words, i it worth keeping to use, is doubt it will replace HQ staffs but that is the only reason i can see a use for it.

This has been bugging me a while, wondering if it's just an expensive toy or not.
