Mirke will beat Harness unless Haste values are really high and vs high end prey on THF, you really want an accuracy body ... Enkidu/Homam/Mirke/SH+1 etc.

I've been pretty solid on Hachiryu >>>>>>>> Byakko's for RR, and obviously KJ. Question for the rest of you is how do you feel about this?
I'm pretty sure the STR and ATT increase will outdo the inconsistent bonus to crits from Haidate but is there solid math to support this?
I hate to bust the shit's situational card but this would be one of the times, Hachiryu will definitely see more consistent lows, but Haidate are probably going to see high ends more often since the money's in the crits. And don't forget your also chunking 11-12 Acc with that switch, not a big deal with Aggressor up but that's only 60% of the time(don't 'Zanshin build' me here either lol).
10 STR is a large amount, but at absolute best it's going to add 6 base D for RR, with a 96D GAxe and mods figured in that's only like a 3-5% increase in base D tops and a slight increase in attack, when a crit is a minimum 25% pDIF increase on that swing if I'm doing my math correctly.
11~ Accuracy + a few % Crit increase.
I've done builds with 3:1 Str: Dex, 2:1 Str: Dex, and 1:1 Str: Dex, always liked where my damage values ranged with the 1:1 builds personally.
If I'm not caring about crits, or it's something I cap crits on anyways, I probably used KJ anyways, so Hachi legs go.
It's an exponential curve so the increases will steeply return which favours a DEX-heavy set along with the side benefits of accuracy.
It's hard really; critical hits are like huge chunks of +atk which you can increase the odds of with DEX (DEX not being useless on its own either) and STR adds to fSTR/WSC when you already have high base damage so adding more won't be THAT big, whereas +attack (through critical hits too) act as a multiplier to the whole.
Again, I don't work with non-Evis crits much so I could be looking at this all wrong
EDIT: Yeah, I agree with Max above. I'd use RR if I could get enough DEX to really push the high crit rates, otherwise I'd just default to KJ.
I personally only really use KJ if I popped MS or if I see a Kasha/Deto/Insurgency fly, if you're WSing at 100% anyways it's basically just a RR that can't crit with some extra base D...actually, now that I think about it with the amount of base D that the WSC mod difference adds, RR vs KJ in general is a lot like Byakko's vs. Hachiryu, lol.
Edit: also Max I don't suppose you can confirm(or at least give an anectodal idea) if there's a native sizeable crit rate increase for RR like for Rampage?
Hmm, I thought the fTP was a lil higher than that <_< I know so little about Great Axes it's embarrassing.
At 100% it's the same fTP as RR, just an extra 15% STR mod.
edit: there is the random wonky bonus damage that supposedly happens sometimes with KJ, but I don't think I've ever even seen that happen on mine.
RR fits with 0%/10%/20% at 100/200/300 as I recall.
KJ is 1.0/1.25/1.5 but it's 50% Str vs 35% Str for RR.
It's weird, places like Dynamis I find KJ rapes face left and right, but then in merits it's so rare for it to win, and stuff like farming trash mobs or beating up quest mobs it can go either way.
My issue is that Crit% cap is what like...22 people said?
4% merits + around 105 DEX w/o haidate I have a hard time believing, on lolibri at least, you'll fall below 17-18% Crit total.
I guess a better question overall is for best consistent damage as WAR is it better to full STR + ACC KJ or go STR/DEX/ACC RR?
I don't really care about popping 2200 crit RRs every now and then for the same reason I didn't gear towards crit on Jin with NIN. I did more consistent damage and higher consistent WS avg with ACC and STR once I felt my Crit% was approaching cap.
Just wondering if KJ STR or Crit RR is going to return a higher % AVG WS. I can live w/o EPeen
Could you do up 2 possible sets in FFXIGear to compare? I'd do it myself but for some reason that site lags like balls on this PC.
Edit: FFXIGear* not AH
Well, my Rampager gives better RR averages than my Byakko's by pushing crits.
I think it was 22% before merits/gear btw, so 26% is the number you should be shooting for.
With a good Dex gearset you can pretty much guarantee at least 1 crit per RR.

Note: make sure assault latent is off, and it should be 113 Str, but it won't count merits for gay reasons.
I use that mostly atm for my "quick n' dirty" macro set, just the 5 swaps (head/neck/hands/waist/feet) + /ws "rr" <t> line, and it works quite nicely.

Same idea for KJ basically, though I have a full swap which puts in a ruby ring and fourth schoss, the coeurl gorget is +8 Acc btw.
KJ average gear with Hachi. Replace for Ebody if you want. Maybe Heca hands and Flame Ring? IDKKKKKKKK

RR typical set afaik
