kohan and all the honorary Canadians should totally swing by, if you got love for Canada, do it up
and by Canada I mean us, because I think you'll find most Canadians are confused by patriotism

Vancouver get-together seems possible sometime in the future if I can keep enough scratch together. I'd be able to combine it with visiting my greatuncle and greataunt, too.
Patriotism just isn't a concept I really understand. I'm agreeing with Howard here.
Somebody took Zalius's keyboard and gave him a tablet didn't they.
yeah, well ... FUCK THAT ZALUS
if anything, I've always thought that all the different cultures has really come to mean for me what Canada stands for
that being said, since no single one of those cultures is mine, the idea of being patriotic about it would be weird to me, it's more that I think it's a good idea since it breeds open-mindedness and acceptance due to mere exposure
how can you remain ignorant when you see examples of different people from a culture and realize they couldn't possibly all be the same (but you also get to know the quaint little stereotypes, which are often true lol) this may sound contradictory but it's not![]()
Do you guys call your black person an African-Canadian?
^ need to know now.
lol honestly, I think we have so few we just say african-american, and really, no one seems to mind 'black' or 'african' although we avoid 'african' since most of our black people are caribbean
if anything we'll actually reference the exact nation of descent (no jokes Toronto has 80+ cultures)
so are they just called black?
cuz tbh african-american is prob more common than black in the states.
I don't even have a huge sense of family, not like Indian or Italian families seem to, counry doesn't mean a whole lot to me, I kinda like Toronto, but more in a pragmatic sense, in that it has the features I'd want in a place to live
I think to me, ideals and principles are more important than something collective like a country or national identity (or religious group but let's ignore thaat can o' worms)
