People that treat cyberbullying like real bullying need to be stabbed in the face for how fucking retarded they are. The big difference between real bullying and this cyber nonsense is that the "victim" can turn it off whenever they want. Don't like getting harassed on facebook? Don't use facebook. AIM messages making you go nuts? Uninstall. Everything was in this little girl's hands, and she opted to kill herself instead of not giving a fuck. And I'll take the ban if need be, but this is a classic case of darwinism. She was clearly not the strongest of her kind.

100% agree with the conviction being overturned. Sure what the mom did was despicable, and she's a horrible person for doing what she did, but seriously there's no way in hell what she did was a criminal act. I don't give two shits about the depth she went to in order to convince the girl that the fake persona was real. The bottom line is the girl decided to commit suicide. Nobody forced her to do it. This whole thing is a complete waste of court time, other than to solidify the fact that people should not be held responsible for bullying with words. As long as no threats of violence were made, and no physical assault was made, tough shit.

I also understand what you're saying Dim. Most of the time I agree with you as my views seem to mirror your own. But this one, I can't agree on. I'm not saying so much as I wish the lady is murdered. But you have full grown adult, a mother to boot, lying about who she is to the girl. Pretending to be her friend, probably flirting with her etc. Then turning on her completely, saying the world would be a better place without her. And the question is why? All because this girl and her daughter didn't get along, gasp, in school!

You can't get along with everybody. So that's when your mom will step in and befriend her, confide in her, then betray her. I'm not saying she hung the rope and kicked the chair out from under her. But this woman is a direct contributor to this entire situation.

Think about it. An adult deliberately fucking with an adolescent teenager. Bottom line, this lady stepped so far over the line she's in the next county over. I agree with the judge, this was not a criminal act, although despicable. I have no hard statistics but I'm sure their are lots of people every year who commit suicide because of bullies at school or work. If those other RL bullies aren't convicted then this mother shouldn't be either. Don't fall into the baby boomer trap of elevating crimes just because it's committed online as opposed to offline.

Idk which is worse really. With physical bullying, its generally from one person, or a small group of people. They fuck with you because youre nerdy, or fat, or you excite urges they are trying to repress. They can generaly be dealt with by a school, or law enforcement because there is a law against it.
