Waiting for it tomorrow on PS3. My main beef is the downgrade of players allowed compared to typical Battlefield, but 'eh, should be good for a time killer between spurts of boredom.

On the 360 matchmaking is apparently busted.

Watched some people stream this and it looks great but not so much in everything else. Take away the mass carnage of the pc version from 64 to 16 players so it matches like the consoled down versions? No man fuck that shit

From what I've seen of this, not what I expected. I never played a Battlefield game before, but I was expecting big battles. I have plenty of what this is, already.

It's basically Battlefield 1942 crossed with Call of Duty. There are no classes. I'm passing on it and waiting for BF3.

Some misinformation in this thread.

The player limit is 24, not 16, and the maps have been made smaller than in 1942.
There are three classes, and all weapons and tools of the original are divided amongst them, except the Medic's healing kit (health regenerates).

Anyway, it's fun and the audiovisual experience is great. The sound is fantastic; you might not see the action in remote places, but you'll always hear it. It's not as varied as 1942 since it's only three maps and always 12v12, but the new engine adds more to the experience than you'd think. It also seems really well-balanced so far; grenade, bomb and shell hit radius is much smaller than in 1942. I don't think anyone who knew about the player limit and map number is disappointed with it.

I played this for a while at E3 and enjoyed it. Fairly typical first person shooter controls and playability but the maps are set up really fun and you can drive any vehicle you can get your hands on. Snagged a free copy of it too for hanging out in their booth. I downloaded it last night and will be playing more this weekend.

The Demo is on PSN, go download it and see for yourself. IMO its a classic case of "you get what you pay for." For 20 bucks its a decent time killer, but much better can be found elsewhere.

I'm surprised not more people are playing this. Yeah it doesn't have the massive chaos that battlefield 1942 had on PC but it's pretty close.

Well after watching gamespot's and gametrailer's review, mainly trailer's, I think I'll try the demo and possibly buy it just to fuck around on. It has the destroyable buildings shit like in bad company and that was the only thing I liked out of that game.

If you're just starting out on playing it, play as the rifleman class. Sniper is really really hard to play in this one. Infantry is cool, but getting smoked by some dude with a rifle at 500 yards is not fun. wtb more maps.

I use the thompson when I'm on the allies and the rifleman class on the jap side. The planes are a bitch to fly though, need to practice more.

Planes were really hard to control for me too , until i changed the control style to Inverted for air.


The game is really fun to play, even more so with a group of friends.
The smaller scale battles were a turn off at first , but really its not all that bad. The smaller map size makes for more frequent encounters with other players and there is less wandering around.

I really enjoy this game, and would personally recommend it to fans of battlefield

Picked this up last week and had a blast with it, destroyable buildings can create some interesting sniping camps. I missed the class diversity from 42 at first but you get over it pretty quickly
