Level Sync is fantastic as it is, it does not need to be changed. There are a few negative impacts on the game, sure, but they're negligible when compared to the staggering improvement and convenience that Level Sync provides.

Level sync made it much more difficult for players to find parties if they don't have a lot of other friends interested in leveling up new jobs. Nowadays most parties are filled with players using level sync rather than people trying to find others in their own range, which made it extremely difficult for random jobs at random levels to find parties. Let's say there's a level 54 DRK seeking for a party - why would you invite this person when you can get that level 65 RNG, 70 DRG or 75 WAR from your LS? Before the update, you'd be forced to get the 54 DRK because he was the only DD seeking in your level range. Now, you have more options.

Good for the person building the party, yes. Bad for the person LFG on a job that isn't desirable.

I personally don't like the level sync addition because I've found myself on the other side of the fence more often than not. Also, I feel like it greatly changed the original experience of leveling a job to 75. But, I can see how most people disagree with me. It all comes down to whether or not you've benefited from it or not.

Lackluster in terms of job adjustments, yes.
But releasing two new areas, new misions and the new Unions system seems to be pretty big.

Before the update, you'd have had to disband the party because there wasn't refresh/tank/healer/enough DD's lfp for +-2 level range, or you had to take a job +3 levels above everyone else and the exp would be gimp.

This. Especially the part about changing the experience of leveling a job to 75. One of the most exciting parts about leveling a job was getting new toys (spells, JAs, JTs, gear), but then all I get are level sync invites earlier than that new toy's required level. The experience is just kind of watered down. It's feels more like a chore leveling a job to 75 now. :/

What your actually saying is 6 Happy People get Exp that would normally be lfg waiting for a BRD or RDM or Tank to LFG within their Level Range (Meaning 1 Level above or Below you if you want any kind of good exp) while 1 other player will have to wait probably an extra 10 minutes lfg, or maybe get off his lazy ass and start his own party, so hes the one inviting people.

Your logic is Flawed, If he doesn't get a party invite cause he has an undesirable job, Then he needs to stop being a lazy fuck and start his own party much like the guy who didn't invite him

Before the update of Level sync if he didn't get invited, chances are the Tanks and RDMs at his level range were taken, if not, He has to pray they're LFG, and im not sure if you've noticed an extreme lack of People LFG around your level range. just randomly do /sea all Invite 53-55 garauntee you'll see about 2-3 People At best. In case you've also forgotten before Level Sync people who weren't just gimp tards would usually be stuck hours waiting for a RDM, PLD, or NIN to LFG just so they can START a party. Now Adays thats less of a problem thats to being able to Widen your search by 10~20 Levels.

But now, AFTER the update, If he wants to start a party, he can find people From 10~54 And make a party appropriate to whats needed, and go where he can get exp.

Some of you might not like the idea of Exping in the Dunes at 54, But to a "54DRK" who doesn't have a party, He now has Options if shit ain't lfg his level range.

If he needs to skill up, theres at least 3 shouts a day for Skill up parties, i had no problems capping my skills on WAR and DRG which i took from 1-75 in the days of Level Sync (War from 37)

Further more, Most people Won't Sync below 55 Once they hit it, and most wont sync below 70(Or Lower than Imps) Once they hit that level, This player mindset helps to prevent people Pre-AU from grabbing people In the Colibri Range or Higher cause most don't want to go back to Non-Squishy Exp. So the 54DRK would probably be better off LOoking for players 54~69 To level Sync with him on Colibri, Instead of Looking for people 53-55 and praying they don't level up after 2-3 Fights, Or pray he doesn't have to even invite a 53 which is basically Crab Exp...

Or better yet, Now he can go level Sync to Colibri in Ronfaure(S) at level 37, Making his Search Range 37~69 Instead of 53-55.

How can you seriously not see the Absolute benefit from Level Sync?

Wow I never saw Level Sync in this way you just described it, but now when I do...yes you're totally correct about this.

The only flaw with level sync is the overcrowding of Colibri camps even more than they were beforehand but that is a Colibri problem and not a Level Sync problem.

What I like especially about Level Sync was the idea that you could take yourself below key levels if something like say.... a tank wasnt looking for party which is a common problem for my server at least and still get some EXP. There are some pretty good lowbie camps that dont need tanks afterall.

For undesirable jobs? I cant say it enough, make your own party, dont wait around for someone to pick you up because that is not a level sync problem. Hell, level sync gives you more options because some jobs work better at certain levels where they arent as outshined so you no longer have that situation where you are stuck in an undesirable level stretch. (DNC at the imps/fomor stretch is a good example)

For people who arent concerned with max EXP/HR at the endgame, level sync is also a viable way of obtaining merits without someone slapping their dick on the ground shouting "hurrrr level a merit job" that you may not want to play.

Level Sync is easily one of the most revolutionary things SE has released for player consumption and coupled with Campaign has revolutionized what was before an archaic system of partying in a game with a declining population. (we all arent on Odin/Bahamut folks)

I'd go so far as to say that pickup exp nowadays would be virtually impossible at levels below ~50 without level sync. The last job I rolled to 75, I think there were only two or three instances where it would've been possible to construct a pt in my level range, and all of those took place around level 70. Every other time, I wouldn't have been able to exp. Around level 40 and 50, you need divine intervention or planetary alignment to find members in your range. The number of people that need yet another 75 or are working on their first one dwindles daily.

I still like bitching at newcomers that they'll never know the adversity of meleeing toramas in the pre-sushi era for 3-4k an hour or having to do SC MB proficiently without TParty, and I do think that that sort of difficulty does improve the quality of newly made 75s. Ultimately, I'm more grateful that 75ing a job is still possible without a set or soloing, just like I prefer exp rates in tp burns to arguably more artful SC pts.

or how about those days of going into CN for the first time on NIN, and your WHM was to poor to have bought Erase yet. God that sucked

WHM too poor for Erase and your RDM too poor for Dispel

They were good times, filled with epic struggles for exp which led to a grand feeling of accomplishment when you were finally finished leveling up

Am I really reading discussion of how level sync isn't one of the best ideas done in the last few years of this game? The severe amount LFG it has cut down is more than worth what few problems it has.

I am as shocked as you are.

Lately after observing the rapid decline of driving ability in my town and then reading what Therin said... I am convinced they put stupid gas in our atmosphere.

I met a RDM that was too poor to buy Dispel or Refresh about 2 months ago. -_-'

Buuuut we should probably get back on topic, don't you think?

Unfortunately, as it turns out, Quadrastrike has a red animation, not a blue one. x.x So the 2nd spell isn't that.

I still want to choke WHMs who say they can't afford Erase when it's like 10k at most, after I paid nearly 1 mil for mine.
