    Disabling Quicktime

Okay so I got an iPhone recently and I finally had to download quicktime to use iTunes for it and I fucking hate it.

Every time I go to a site to download a song or a movie when I normally get a window asking me if I want to run it or save it to my computer is now replaced with a quicktime bar flash embeded into the browser and now unless I uninstall the damn thing I can't download it I have to play it in the browser.

How the fuck do you turn this shit off its annoying as hell and NO one I know can give me an answer.

I went into the options of quicktime and told it to run nothing but the things that only come in the quicktime format and its STILL making it my default program for running videos and it gives me a 1x2 inch window that I can't resize or change any settings on when watching and its fucking stupid.

Anyone possibly know how to fix this problem where quicktime hijacks your settings for when you load songs/videos online and how to make it where you can download things like I could before ect?

Any help would be awesome thanks...

You have to make sure that you a) set quicktime to NOT be the default app, and b) set your other app of preference to be t he default instead.

You can also change browser behavior directly to always use plugin a instead of plugin b, or always just download the file to desktop, etc.

    I see,..

How would I go about making these changes so I will just download said file and keep quicktime from stealing the show everytime I see something online?

I know a bit about computers but not sure what or where I would need to go to do what you mentioned.

The description does what I don't want it to do, play embedded files in quicktime...

Before loading quicktime every file played perfectly fine or it had me download the file, only after installing quicktime does it embed itself to the page which is what I don't want....

Or maybe I am reading it wrong I don't know...

Give me a link to something you're referring to. I have QA installed and it works the way you want it to whenever I look at the Apple Trailers.

It kind of varies with your browser, in Firefox you can go Tools->Options->Applications and select the file type(s) you want to change the behavior of; I don't know off the top of my head how to do it in others.

In XP SP1 and later you can use the "Set Program Access and Defaults" program, it is in the start menu by default but I believe it is also in Control Panel.

In Vista/7 in the Start Menu search Type "Default Programs" to launch the program. It is also in the Control Panel under "Programs".

(Running only Windows 7 here so going mostly from memory, might be slightly different.)

Not sure if you have resolved your problem, but here's an example of what QA does for me when selecting movies:
