    San Diego COMIC CON 2009

Welcome to Comic-Con International: Coming up Next...Comic-Con International: San Diego 2009!

    http://www.modernmet.com/photos/unca...iccon_logo.gif

Who's going?! It's less than two weeks away and I'm so excited. Are you going to be buying any exclusives? Going to certain panels? Cosplaying? Getting autographs from anyone? You probably won't be able to do anything cause you won't be able to move because of all the people!!

I'll be working the whole time. But I always have a great time at SDCC so I'm super excited.

I've been a long time goer, seeing as how I live about 20 minutes away but this year, I simply just opted not to go.

It's simply too much bigger than itself nowadays and I spend most of my time getting in line for panels at the expense of missing others. It's overly crowded, prices are atrocious, the bags are just ridiculously oversized now (Thanks Tokyopop) in an attempt to advertise. Not to mention you have to literally push and shove to get anywhere in the exhibit hall because everyone and their mom has to stop and look at every piece of shit booth out on the floor. It's ridiculously crowded. I think after knowing I'd have to get in line literally hours and hours before any good panels just to get a seat (and the meeting halls are not tiny, they're pretty damn massive) I just decided I'd rather watch some videos of it later at home. Fuck it.

i am not going because comicon faggots made everyone get tickets from the internet, and since that happened all 4 day passes are out since march, i would like them to have on site passes again, comicon you faggots now i have to buy my damn tickets like 10 months before the event.

I've gone since '05. I agree with Kytele. It's gotten waay too big. I dont mind the crowds. Lots of people in awesome cosplay (if you're into that sorta thing) I do find it ridiculous to wait 1-4hrs. in line just to go to a 10 min panel. Kevin Smith panel is always awesome tho. Promoted Zack and Miri last yr. and yr. before that Reaper. I am not going this yr. lack of $$$ and getting time off. I am probably going next yr.

In all honesty, if it wasn't for friends I have that live in San Diego area, which saves me on hotel costs, and that also said friends love going to the 'Con too, I'd probably not have gone at all after expierencing it once.

I'm really glad I opted to go to last year's comic-con instead of this year. I could really give 2 shits less about comics and I go mostly for the entertainment industry presence there (movies, tv shows, gaming, etc) And for me, last year was perfect, there were panels and special guests that I cared about and this year its just a bunch of comic people i've never heard of lol.

Yes I know I am the scourge of comic-con but idc! I don't write the rules I just play according to them.

I've been going for the last 6 years and love it.
    But like Kayu said,
[qq] missed out on tickets because I didnt expect them so sell out that quick...
i mean, wtf??? 4 day passes sold out in mid march??? and internetz sales onry???
    RAWR!!![/qq]

Although like other posters have said, it's getting too big to enjoy sometimes.
Between the long lines for freebies, good panels, and the increasing popularity of comics, animation (eastern and western), videogames, collectibles and general pop culture (love how the big companies pimp out their new/soon to release movies and tv shows XD ), makes you wonder how much of a geek/nerd you really are

    Sorry to bump this....

A buddy of mine is looking for some limited edition street fighter arcade controller that's being released at the event. We live in NY, so he obviously isn't going to this one.

Is there anyone on here that would be willing to help him out? He'd send you the money up front, and you could pick the controller up for him while you're there.

I don't really want anything to do with it, aside from just checking to see if anyone would be interested in helping him out.

PM me or post here and I'll give you his cell # and you two could work it out.

    Thanks.

I'll be there... since I live in SD anyways. There are a handful of TV panels I want to see. I doubt it will be in SD next year, its just gotten too big that some panels are being held off site even. People thought last year would be the last time it was in SD, but i guess it just depends on w/city bids the most for it. I am having to buy the Saturday ticket from some shmo on craigslist though, cause when I got my tickets in March all 4 day passes and saturday were already sold out. Next year I'll need to act faster.

Mainly excited for True Blood Panel, Charlaine Harris book signing, Dollhouse, Avatar, Legend of Seeker, and gonna go to the Twilight panel cause my friend will die if I'm able to get her an autograph... though I'm sure you will need to be waiting in line for a few hrs before it starts to get inside of that panel.

Only crazy shitty thing about it, this year, is you can only redeem your ticket on that specific day (unless you have a 4 day pass). So gotta fuckin wait in line Thursday and Friday just for that

6:00-7:00 Goon, This Is Your Life!— It's the Goon's 10th Anniversary, and creator Eric Powell reminisces about the life of the lovable thug with special surprise guests. Come discuss the Goon's sordid past and his future in the picture shows! That's right, some folks from Blur Studio will be on hand to talk about the animated Goon film! Room 8.
Go there if you have the chance! His Uncle works for my Dad and his comics are great. Really nice guy too!

Comic-Con's San Diego contract is good until 2012. After that.. who knows if it'll stay in SD at all.

All of my local friends are pumped about going when ten years ago they used to laugh at me for being such a nerd for attending. Haha... fuck them, I hope they enjoy trying to get into Hall H on Saturday.

People are saying it will be in vegas after 2012, but a lot of children go to comic con so I don't know if theyd do that.\

Edit: I will be the blonde/brown hair girl at the Fusion Publishing booth (4112 I think it is) right across from the Nickelodeon booth if you want to stop by and say hi

Las Vegas is kind of family friendly!

I would definitely go if it came here.

Last time I went to Vegas a lot of people were telling me they are trying to make Vegas family friendly again. Not sure how that will work and how long it will take but you never know!
