Nope. It wasn't a "zerg" really, because we didn't coordinate two-hours or anything like that. Our setup was very mediocre, we just jumped on it from the start with Dia II, Box Step and Frightful Roar to curb his insanely high defense (this makes a huge difference - /SAM melee can put out 600-900 weaponskills at 100% TP where you'd normally do in the neighborhood of 400 without buffs/debuffs). A few two-hours were used at around 30% (Soul Voice, Meikyo Shisui) to finish it off quickly, but no Blood Weapon zerg DRKs or anything like that.

Setup was:
A1.1) PLD PLD RDM BRD WHM THF
A1.2) BLU BLU SAM SAM RNG DNC
A1.3) DRK DRK SAM DRG WHM BRD
A2.1) BLM BLM BLM BLM BLM COR (two dual-boxed BLMs)

Far from optimal, but this just goes to show how easily you can take him down now. With a BRD replacing the second BLU and full two-hours you could down it in 2-3 minutes for sure. Ours popped the first set of adds at 67% and didn't even make it to a third set before dying.

With that kind of damage done over time would your melee grab hate from your tanks pretty quickly? Now the LS I'm in isn't a top caliber LS but we usually have our melee occasionally grab hate around the 20 minute mark and we also let our tanks build hate until after the first set of spawns. Our setup never gets over 20 people so we end up having a tank PT, a dd PT(3 dd+drg+thf+brd) and a blm PT(4-5 blm+rdm) and maybe 1 or 2 outside healers.

Says he can drop up to 4, however i, and most ls members with me, have never seen him drop anything, so those 3 pieces came as a nice surprise.

There was this theory that the chance of Dynamis Lord dropping one of the 100-coins was 33% and the 1%, intended or not, accounted for the rare scenario that he didn't drop any currency at all. So this probably works just the same way. Each of the 4 slots probably goes through the same (buggy) calculation that is used for the loot pool from DL.

Never seen less than 4 100-coins personally, but getting drops at all is rare enough itself (we've seen boss drops once, maybe twice doing CoP Dynamis once a week for years) so looks like you've just been extremely lucky and then extremely unlucky for this to occur.

The way I understood it you could either get nothing, a single or four (supa-rare). I suppose it probably changed somewhat when the drop rates were adjusted?

It's actually quite common to only get 3. We've seen a good number of money drops off CoP bosses (none lately, been a while) and the last 2-3 in a row have only dropped 3. I'd say it's 50/50 or so on 3 / 4 100s dropping.
