sometimes us poor people would like to enjoy stuff they can't afford because college expenses and car payments get in the way. don't get me wrong, i did buy the game, but shit was it a dent in my wallet for the time being.

There is a difference, that's for sure, it depends on how you define theft though.
Basically you acquire a product without paying for it, in the end it amounts to about the same minus the money the company spends on the discs and the caselets.

I understand your point though, you have to at least appreciate that it's no longer industrial revolution and "poor" people end up having their hands chopped off by a malfunctioning saw after fourteen hours of work.

Nowadays even "poor" people can easily get the stuff they desire, even though it's not completely legal. That's certainly an improvement, even though a solution that makes both customers and producers happy would be the best case.
If I had to name a positive side-effect of the piracy-business it would probably be that it does away with the inequality, even though it's just a bit.
Entertainment should not be limited only to those who have lots and lots of money, but should also be accessible to those who simply cannot afford the basics.

That's also why I strongly dislike those who have enough money and download their media anyway - that does amount to nothing more than petty theft. If you have to decide between booze and games you'd better be a man and choose wisely.

this is the part where I point out that people pirate things they would never spend money on, or that are not available for retail sale in their area, and that renting/borrowing/buying used results in the same loss of income for the developers

There's too many legal opportunities that barely cost anything to give people the chance to do shit like play video games at next to no cost (Such as Gamefly). There's absolutely no excuse for piracy outside of living in an area where a product isn't offered. Even then, there's plenty of ways to entertain yourself outside of video games. Being able to play video games isn't a right, you're not stealing food for your family, you're just being an overall douche-bag and we'd all be better off without these fuckers.

Gabranth is an extremely good character in my opinion. Of course, in pvp where accessories aren't allowed, you'll have to be more critical with your EX Mode. Some vital abilities:

-As always, Controlled Recovery+Recovery Attack+Evasion Distance Up
-EX Critical Up
-First Strike (When you land that first Vortex of Judgment with this on, commence brick shitting)
-Just Jump+Jump Times Boost+Speed Boost (highest levels possible)
-Auto Chase

Auto Chase I find very useful because many of his moves activate Chase Mode, but he has no chaining attacks. Additionally, you'll need to get very good with chase, although it can be difficult in pvp where there is definately a noticable delay.

Attacks:
EX Mode:
-Vortex of Judgment is a MUST. Draws in, reflects projectiles, you can move a lot and has 3 rounds per attack. Although it can be blocked, it is very hard to dodge this move.
-Aero (midair or ground or both is fine, its only 10 CP each when mastered), I find this move very useful. Activates chase sometimes, but also does a ton of damage and limits your enemy's movements. Its slow but its verticle range is very large and homes very well.
-Rupture - I prefer this over Dual Rend because it seems to come out quicker and goes farther, although it doesn't appear to hit as hard. Good for suddenly closing the gap between you and your enemy.
-Enrage - Better than Relentless Lunge in my opinion. Perfect for guarding then counterattacking, especially if you have Riposte or Counterattack on.
Normal Mode:
-Sentence (ground) - better than Lunge since Lunge takes forever to startup. Also knocks back the enemy a decent amount, allowing you to charge a little bit.
-Circle of Judgment - Knocks the enemy away a large amount and still draws in and protects you from projectiles, but is much slower than Vortex of Judgment and you only get one. Still, its a good move that allows you to charge.

HP attacks:

Hatred - Vital move. If you wall rush the enemy and just tap square to activate Hatred, they'll be hard pressed to escape. Also good out of Chase Mode if after 3 turns no one hits each other. Also you can hold it and move around and it draws them in.
Innocence - Ground version is pretty good, air version does generally less well unless you are REALLY high above them, then it becomes very difficult to dodge. You can also move midair, so the choice is really yours to take one or both.
Guilt isn't a very good move in my opinion, unless you have good foresight and can break their attack with Guilt.

Tips to charge: Start every fight while charging. This'll get you at least 25% of the way their while they charge at you. Bigger maps where your more distanced is obviously better. Get used to dodging then charging a little bit, against human players especially with quick characters, this is how you'll be charging a lot. If you play against someone with lots of brave attacks like Cecil, you can always guard then charge up like 10%-15% while they stagger as opposed to attacking them in your normal form. It could be beneficial to equip Reverse Free Air Dash to run away while charging, especially if you have Speed Boost++ and Jump Times Boost++ to catch up with your opponent since you won't have Free Air Dash.

it does get tedious, but meh, fuck cheating. I decided to do all of shade impulse on my power day w/ every calender pp item purchased.

holy shit my zidane jumped from 38 in the beginning of shade impulse to 100 when i finished chaos. >_>

Doesn't sound like you've even got to the real tedious items to get if you just beat Shade Impulse. I farmed and unlocked everything in the JP version manually, sure as hell not doing it again in the English one when I get around to playing it. Ultimate and character specific weapons are a total bitch to make.

Yeah, the story shit was easy, but farming items with < 3% drop rates "maybe" if you Break a 100 Character is a pain in the arse.

Then there's the Duel Coliseum never giving you the treasure you need when you've got the medals for it.

EXPx5 on your Special Day along with the 100% EXP boost Choco item is fantastic though. Can get to 100 in a single fight.

You need to grind AP after though, but that isn't too hard with Diamond Gear and Rings.

I just changed date on PSP to special day whenever I played. Story modes are easy as hell outside of the Gold/Silver Knights or whatever they were. Difficulty only really picked up at the end of Shade Impulse.

Go to the PP Catalog and under the etc. section is are four things that will allow you to buy the items from the store. So, instead of mindlessly killing things and hoping the right items pop up, you can buy elixirs (or hi-elixirs, or megaelixirs, or dusty elixirs, depending on difficulty), which you can then trade to the store for the items you want.

After learning this, my sanity was partially restored, and I can progress rather nicely.
