    Help with Gurfurlur the Menacing.

Recently I've managed to convince my ls to kill the 3 ToAU kings. Could use some help on this guy. I've read through BG on it and it seems like the consensus is he's most easily killed by straight zerging him. We tried recently with a group of 7 drks(2 kraken 1 kris 2 fort) 3 brds 2 whm 2rdm 2mnk thf and a pld/blu +rdm outside to hold his spawns while we fight. Sadly said pld dc-ed right after brds 2 houred and swapped but it didn't seem to make that much of a difference as the rdm held the adds for a bit. Sadly we only managed to get him to 40%~ befor completely wiping. So any suggestions other then obviously get a tank who's net doesn't fail? The adds really didn't do much till we were almost already completely dead so as I said I don't think we would have won with or without him.

Might wanna run a search to get more info. It's what I did before coming up w/ a strategy of my own using what resources my LS has, based on other people's experiences. Here's mine:

We rolled out w/ 19 people; I think jobs were 3 PLDs, (/rdm, /war, /nin), 2 WHMs, 2 BRDs, 2 RDMs, 1 SAM, and 10 RNGs. We stuck one PLD (the /war one, I think) on non-RNG adds (forgot what job they are), with one RDM supporting him, and that same RDM holding the RNG adds. Chose RNGs as DMG source to avoid Pleaides Ray (and it worked nicely). We had tanks stand with their backs to the wall, with Gurfurlur stading between PLDs and WHMs. WHMs were positioned roughly in line with the pillars near the edge of Gurf's platform, to avoid any possible knock-back into the ground below. At one point in the fight, one PLD DC'd, and it was easy enough to hold until said PLD came back; all we did was stop shooting it. Also, at one point there someone fell off the ledge and got a few adds; we had the 3rd PLD kinda grab their attention while RNGs mini-zerged them quickly. That person was the only person that died during the whole fight (one of the BRDs) with this strategy. Also make sure your tanks/WHMs know what TP moves to expect/be ready for (wiki).

Of course, that may not work for whatever group you have for various reasons. I"d recommend 24 people if you're iffy about it, or can't produce a nice combination of jobs, but I would rely on RNGs, CORs, and SMNs as my DMG source, and possibly BLU, or even a PUP w/ Sharpshot Frame, but I don't know enough about endgame PUPing to vouch for it. Outside PT can be a hold pt for adds with 6 plds, 6 rdms, or any combination you see fit consisting of those 2 jobs. A RDM alone can hold both RNG adds, so you may want to stick in a few extra WHMs and SCHs in that hold party to help main ally with fight.

P.S. There's no special reason we had a SAM; I think he might have logged in late, and came as was, or might not have RNG leveled. Also, I asked the PLD to use different subjobs because among all the info I read up, it was stated that all 3 subs worked, so it was a bit of experiment, which turned out great. Fight lasted between 30-40 minutes, including the time we had to stop DMG/wait for DC'd PLD to come back, and the time we had to stop DMG to kill extra adds.

just get one pld for adds and give them a brd/whm and rdm, that is heaps. Helps alot if pld goes pld/dnc as waltzs can't be interupted. Stick with rangers as dmg, get full mp at about 21% and then try knock it down as fast as possable cause its aoe is bitching after that mark.

Its overall pretty easy, and you fight it just like you'd expect to fight a monk NM.

You just need something to handle the adds (someone with resist, or a rdm with a MDB set can handle the ranger adds easily and get their shots down to low double digits). Gurfurlur himself doesn't really hit that hard and its easy to get most of his hits down to 0 with Phalanx on your paladin. You just have to watch it because he absorbs reprisal and atonement damage.

Hes the easiest of the 3 TOAU kings, so hes good practice before the rest. Medusa is the next easiest since you can stand out of range and she just fires arrows.
