Great, just what we need, an expansion to a completely random system that provides possible marginal increases in a few select pieces of gear.
Here's hoping the fights needed to do this are at least entertaining, and there is a possibility of controlling the augment.
My head hurts at the thought of the new best possible gear setups.. ugh

I think that's sort of the point...and as a goldsmither I'm rather excited. For years, expansion reward earrings were the best you could get, but after this patch?
Might actually give people a reason to buy augmentable rings and earrings again to try and get awesome augments on Flame Rings, etc.
Basically this is a voluntary way to decay items in hopes of getting better items. Perhaps not useful if you are generally broke, but if you've already got top notch gear, why not throw money at trying to get HQ augments on already decent/good pieces of gear?
I'll augment my merman's earring and my forager's.
the pixie quest makes it seem like the weapons crafted are job specific.. and that the possible augments are also job specific...
this will make for some interesting JSE weapons i think...
i think jobs like SAM can expect to see more new weird shit like Enhance "Hasso" or something...
or SMN with Enhances "Elemental Siphon" probably
I knew they were gonna add 50+ FOV! Kinda why I gave up on my +mnd bow. Though I needed to farm alot of Lamia Bows and never got around to it. I totally didn't see a boost to augments and this new system though...
Not specialy exited about this, but I suposse it could be fun. After all, it's more fights to do.
Anyway, we all know how the normal FoV augmenting works and all that, but can someone please comment on that scythe? I have no idea about DRK or scythes in general (Even though my bst has it caped and i have perdu <.<), so i'm not even sure if that's worth anything at all.
The weapon augmenting thing is what's making wonder. They say you need a specialy crafted weapon, which I assume and hope they do job specific weapons and that for some jobs these are meaningful. The crafted part somehow annoys me because we all know these are going to the usual crafts, most likely: hello Smithing.
So far the update seems quite underwhelming, but we are getting two new gameplay systems, so it's one of those things that will need to be tested before branding it. But yes, I have little hopes myself.
I can see some big items in line for an Augment, Hagun Hauberk +1 etc.
Also loads of little items such as the Warwolf and Hierach belt's, errant gear and such, could be one great update.
And yay for crafts! Might actually be able to make a profit again. I can see plenty of weskits being sold.
