    Getting a new Laptop

    My roommate is getting a new laptop and is looking for some advice on a good one. I don't know much about them, was looking for some recommendations.

    If it's just basic word processing/internet browsing that he needs, then a netbook would probably be the cheapest solution. Otherwise, shop around online, look at best buy and similar locations for demonstration models you can try, that sort of thing. We're going to need more detailed information about what your roommate wants to do with this laptop and what his price range is before we can really recommend anything though.

    Going to be used for 1080P movie watching, so must be able to do that (with some installs and such.)

    I have a Gateway FX laptop, Mojo. Bought it for like $1300 in March. 2.6 ghz Quad, 4 GB of RAM, nVidia 9800 GT 1 GB, and it comes with an HDMI slot, it's pretty sweet.

    13 inch screen
    HDMI slot
    2.66 ghz
    4gb ram
    ATI radeon hd4570

    damn good warranty

    good for portability and your whole 1080p movie watching
