    Priceless.
I'm trying to forget that piece of crap even existed.

find this statement quite ironic (and funny) coming from the guy who augmented (and hence would be keeping) his Penance Robe at the drop of a hat when the last version update hit.
Clearly that 6m+ valued Perp-2 must have meant something to you if you were willing to write it off just like that.
Because Summoner is his only career 75 job so why would he care aabout a price tag on a piece of gear he has no plans whatsoever to sell? The price only means something if you intend to sell it off on a later date. If I had a piece of gear I didn't give a shit about in terms of value but I wanted to Augment in a chance to get something better out of it then I'd have done the same.

its thus ironic cos he said its not worth it but is willing to let go of 6m in value to keep something with that stat, is what im saying.

then again, even if you sold it to buy more gear for SMN, theres nothing else you'd want to get anyway. or at least nothing that doesn't deal with perp cost again

Gaiters + nin sub or meds and skill + sch sub = entirely different ballgame, in which -perp is as important to soloing smn as refresh to a soloing rdm.

Especially with the power you can pack into nether blast now.

Also, I've been testing the da/crit option lately, and I haven't been disappointed. The difference between it and smn body has been negligible, for the most part. Double attacks are real nice when you get that freakish luck and they proc when you really need an avatar to pull mob off you asap.

at least my smn still got the required gear even i burn

however, i do agree most people who smn burn are a complete retard when they try playing their new 75 job in endgame events
You are the one though who keeps posting in any relevant smn burn thread gloating how you're making 60k/hr with very minimal effort, capping out your merits and jobs within weeks. Of course retards are going to read this and follow suit.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: participating in a successful and productive astral-burn requires the same, if not a greater degree of competence(and who are we kidding, teaches you just as much[nothing at all] about how to play the job at 75) than it does to cure-monkey or campaign your way to 75.

Nothing about the leveling system in this game is complex, and very little of it is even remotely relevant when you leave the party. Stop whining because you can't participate.

Lets go back in time to 2005. Take a test on how to play SMN - pass it with flying colors. Fast forward to 2009 and take the same test.

    FAIL

What is optimum for different situations and how people play the jobs, does literally change as peoples understanding of the jobs increases. We know tonnes more now than what we knew back a few years ago.

We kinda have come out of the dark ages and are now walking into the light - however I expect in a few years that our knowledge of today will be outdated in many aspects and people will look retarded.

You are a fucking moron. I don't care what fucking year it is. Not knowing how macros work on your job is the same for any year. It's called knowing the basics of your job. Please, kill yourself and don't ever look at SMN again.

well, there are still many people whom i know, knows their smn job damn well, with cap skills, good gears etc etc......AND THEY STILL BP IN YY ROBE

nothing to do with flow fyi, they are 75 before level sync

when i explain to them that YY robe is only for BP timer, and should change to stuff like AF2 body during shits like claws before they execute, i get told off

actually it was quite the opposite, i did it to penance robe because it was a status symbol and i could write it off and get another if i lost(which i almost did) and knew it wouldn't matter if i got a crappy bonus, i've got 4.4k alexandrite sitting there, i have the money if needed to buy another.

i really consider my character the exception to the rule when it comes to certain things. i really push most of my stats past the point of diminishing returns, getting gear, and gearsets that even i sometimes question their worth, but i do it to literally perfect the lolsmn job.

the big reason i'm so adamant against -2 perp on redingote is because its giving up a large stat bonus for mp conservation. most normal summoners don't have af+1, relic, nashira, karura hachigane and or hq staves/bahamuts. they don't have a max -perp setup, so they really won't see as big a return on -perp but they still give up a large stat boost for what amounts to a little conserve mp. i'd rather see summoners, especially ones lacking in gear in other slots, go for more consistent and highter bloodpact damage than perp. if they want - perp so bad, get it in other slots first.

This may be the "new standard," but it's still BG, not Alla. I strongly suggest prioritizing your opinions for people that are taking shit seriously, not for people that don't know what the hell they're doing. Even in a thread where the op is... not exactly brilliant... especially once the conversation turns, if you mean "don't go with -perp if you're not actually building an effective -perp set," just say that in the first place.

Penance is not exactly easy to find, and if you don't have it, but use significant -perp, the augment on redingote can be invaluable.

but if you are a srs endgaem smn, its still better to get the stat bonuses.... and buy penance.

The following are my own personal experiences and anecdotes; take them or not. Just another opinion added to the many here.

The biggest thing people complain about, is that SMN is still summon, BP, release, repeat. Why? Because of perp.

That's why -2 perp is useful. The melee damage an avatar does over the span of 45 seconds, compared to the mp spent by a SMN with great -perp gear, is not insignificant. In fact, it's also very efficient, when looking at other forms of MP : Damage. Add in the +PetMAB options and the updated merit pacts, and I, for one, leave my avatar out now (usually garuda).

Between the mp efficient damage and the damage gained through TP, I find that outweighs the minor benefit from something like +attack. And in actuality, due to the large variance of damage output from a lv70 BP, it's hard to see how much benefit you get from +attack. In my experience, it hasn't been much. Also, while +15 attack and +15 accuracy sound nice, you're only getting half the benefit on the gear because avatars don't use ranged accuracy or ranged attack. Due to the large amount of +SMN skill gear out there, I don't see much benefit in getting +accuracy, either (unless you're trying to max out Shiva's Rush; good luck!).

I'm currently using crit/DA and -perp. I'll change the crit/DA to MAB/M.Acc when I get Nirvana, so as to max out large magic pacts, but my setup works well for now. I build TP faster, and my MP pool lasts a long time without any outside assistance. Which lets Garuda stay out a long time to do a lot of damage, both through melee, and through the extra pacts I can toss out over time, compared to someone with less -perp.

Of course, everyone must learn to tailor things to their own playstyle. Just throwing this out there so the OP has more information as to what decision to make.

In my experience and opinion, being able to leave an avatar out > stat bonuses. I'm also not wasting much time summoning or running to get my avatar into position.

penance is not that easy to find, and the value of the other augments is heavily dependent on what you do-- as is the value of the -perp

-2 perp isn't useful. Keeping avatars out in most fights is pointless because their only real damage is from BPs. You are better getting mattk/macc+7 and either acc/racc+15 attk+15/rattk+15. Drop any physical BP merits, get the magic ones.

There was a decent amount in standard when this stuff came out, a couple people verified that there's no level correction, I'm not sure what else you want to know.

Someone vocalizes their desire to see something concrete, and you hand them sourceless reiterations of what they wanted sources of?

your search function is as good as mine

which is to say, probably not good enough to find the shit

but it's pretty easy to put carby (or carrie for that matter) and watch em chase kirin around landing more hits than rng

There aren't enough hours in the day to sift through the piles of garbage that the search function finds mildly related to "avatar accuracy".

And lacking the accuracy penalties induced by level-correction doesn't really explain the necessary amount of skill to have capped BPAcc%.

the necessary amount of skill to have capped acc is going to vary by mob and between magic and physical on every mob

there's also the discussion on single hits possibly getting the same acc bonus single hit ws do, but I'm not convinced on that one

it's like the 320/120 thing for blm's, it's ok to have guidelines but it's not going to be perfect unless you test and chart out every mob and adjust accordingly
