When they want to go out they cry/whimper/bark to make you do it. Babies and children cry when they want something. Girls are sluts or whine when they want something.

I mean, it just doesn't seem that scientific that if you throw a tantrum then you get what you want. I don't see how this is any different.

As a sidenote, my cats aren't like, manipulative about it. If they want something, they will be smart about lettng you know. I hate cats that just meow from afar and expect you to do everything. These cats will come up to me where I am, paw and meow at me right around dinner time. And they'll be affectionate later when they don't want anything so it works out.

My current cat doesn't gorge himself if I put too much food in his bowl, so usually I never hear anything and just fill the bowl once a day when I wake up. Really, I could just rip open the top of the bag and leave it there for him to feed himself for a couple weeks... He's not fat and doesn't poo an obscene amount so it seems he's only eating what he needs to. Seems odd now that I think about it... He's anti-social, hates whitey like no one's business, and only responds to me with purrs and affection.

My old cat used to paw my face whenever he was hungry and I was asleep but he'd freaking clear his bowl no matter how much was in it. Then it was all belly rubs and rainbows until his next feeding. Fluffy cat in more then one degree. At least he had the decency to jump in my lap and whine in my face when I was awake. Miss him... totally social, peace and love and always welcomed everyone with purring and smiling catface-rubs, like a hippy.

I think you missed the point kind of, the significance was in that they were embedding the meow inside of a purr to hide it in a sense. So we hear it audibly as a sign of endearment (the purr), but underlying is the meow which we may find annoying which subconsciously drives people to feel a certain way.

When a baby cries, a dog whines or a girl drops her pants, it's all a pretty straight forward message, there aren't any hidden meanings...at least not usually.
