They changed the name to Kung Fu Kid, because Will Smith was taking a lot of heat from people who didn't want the original to be tarnished by this movie.
Still, I am not going to watch it.
Huge ass necro, buuuuuut
yeah...not interested.
i lol'd
Karate Kid sucked.
So its Disney presents you got served karate kid edition?
If they're smart they'll add Tyler Perry presents before the title so at least the black folks would watch it. and add more Hip hop
It doesn't look bad >.> I always like a good story about an underdog rising up and kicking ass. lol.
I don't mind remakes and in this case my only complaint is that will smith's son is still way too young, so they can't really have a decent side romance story to go w/ the karate! Err, kung fu. And everyone else in his school looks like they're 2-3 years older.
Edit: lol @ all the youtube comments ripping into this movie about 'ruining a classic'. I can picture the same people all saying GET OFF MY LAWN!
I agree, I was really skeptical before I saw the trailer, and now that I've seen it I don't think it'll be that bad. The original Karate Kid was a classic in some ways, but if you've seen it recently it... it's not great. Really average even. Not to mention all the sequels being worse than the original. Yet, I watched them all as a kid and didn't really care about that stuff at all. I just wanted to see some ass kicking. I reckon kids seeing this today will probably feel the same way I did back then, so it's not bad in that regard.
This could actually be decent if not only because of the money they're spending into making it look good. The story is always going to be average, the same shit about a young underdog fighter rising up. What makes Jaden Smith worse than the other main protagonists in the previous movies?
Honestly the trailer wasn't bad at all. This movie looks watchable even without the "Karate Kid" title attached to it. The fact that they made this a Karate Kid remake instead of an original movie is what's deterring me from watching it. It's about time Jackie Chan went from Badass Karate Master to Old Badass Teacher. I'd probably watch it just to see him.
Didn't like the music in the trailer, but it really didn't look that bad.
I'll see it just for Jackie. I will admit though, I did laugh at his method of catching flies with chopsticks.
What worries me is the original Karate Kid was 'real', as in no CGI stuff or fancy camera tricks. If they go for that scenario, then it will be fine imo. If they go all out on special effects, then I just will be bored.
Then again, it needs to appeal to kids somehow...
special effects for teaching a niglet kung fu? no.
if it doesnt have the "you're the best around" song I'm not interested
Maybe a You're The Best Around remix by Will Smith!!!
hollywood is original amirite
Honestly the trailer wasn't bad at all. This movie looks watchable even without the "Karate Kid" title attached to it.I just wanted to point out that it seems to no longer have anything to do with kung fu in the name. If you watch until the end of the trailer it is now the Karate Kid, so flames away about it ruining the original! As if there was something truly there to ruin. It's a movie to get another generation of children interested in karate again, I know it worked for me the first time around.special effects for teaching a niglet kung fu? no.
lold @ flyswatter
Looks alright, ill give it a go.
Had my doubts but the trailer seemed pretty good.
