A Johnson County man who told investigators that he was merely testing a theory could face federal charges after he told deputies he threatened to blow up a commercial airliner.

The 18-year-old, who lives in the 4000 block of Ridgemere Drive, Greenwood, told Johnson County deputies that he was playing a popular online role-playing game early Monday morning when he issued a threat that he "was going to board a plane at 7:30 to Chicago and that (he) was going to try and kill as many Americans as possible," according to an incident report from the sheriff's department.

A facilitator with an online gaming center alerted authorities after she noticed several messages from the man, who was playing "World of Warcraft," threatening to blow up an airliner.

The man, who originally told investigators that someone had hacked into his computer, admitted he jokingly made the threats, which did not name a specific airline, because he had heard that merely doing so would bring police to his house, "but I didn't really believe it," he said in a written statement.

I love how aged up criminals are. If it'd been a victim or something lesser like theft he'd be still referred to as a teenager or punk, but because of the severity they several times emphasize that this man did this, just in case anyone might be garnering sympathy due to youthful stupidity.

I think the report wants you to know that this man was fully intent on evil, you should hate this man because we emphasize this. Just to make sure you don't think that this man was joking. XD

Of course this may just be depending on the scale of their actions, for instance the 18 year old who skinned and killed cats was called a teen.

Haha. I love the response, yeah life belt is gloves. I play WoW, but I speak to nobody. Ever. I sit on Vent with the clan I'm in(all real life buddies) and that's it. I don't respond to people sending me messages or talking to me in public. I've played FFXI for seven years where talking to people and partying with people is forced on you. I'm sure as shit not doing it again in WoW lol. In short, unless I know you, assume I hate you.
