Regardless of how silly I feel his opinion is on this subject, that is completely different to the point he is trying to make.
The only point he's trying to make is that any real, documented advantages to portable gaming are going to get relabeled 'gimmick' as soon as they pass the gates of his brain. His statement that console/PC gaming is superior in every aspect exists in a theoretical vacuum where there is no market demand for any other type of experience. Everything to him is a gimmick.
I guess I simply don't care about the quality of phone calls as much as I do videogames? A likely scenario.
EDIT: Like "market demand" has anything to do with criticism.
what is it with brp being a jackass?
what is it with qalbert being so butthurt?
Having an opinion is not trolling.
It is when you ignore all evidence to the contrary, and treat your opinion as irrefutable fact. I am all for sharing different opinions, that is the heart of good conversation. He doesn't discuss things though, he just steamrolls his opinion over everything tells everyone else they are wrong and morons, etc etc. That is trolling.
Portables are not weaker than consoles? It is when you ignore all evidence to the contrary,
So irrefutable no one dares try to refute it.treat your opinion as irrefutable fact.
When did I call anyone a moron? Not everyone is so childish Qalbert.

Just because it's on a portable doesn't mean it will look terrible or anything. I know it won't look AS good, but it can still look good.
And as for the "game" part, I don't know what you mean exactly. There are plenty of amazing portable games out there. I know you're a Mother 3 fan, and my current personal GotY contenders (Knights in the Nightmare and M&L: Bowser's Inside Story), ironically can't be done on the higher-up consoles as is. No touch screen/stylus and all that jazz. Nothing to do with the graphics part.
Graphically speaking, yes, they are weaker, and that is going to probably end up in some disappointment after the original. But I'm sure you understand that graphics are only a part of the "game" equation, and definitely not the most important part. Sega's not a charity. If the game does end up being bad, I doubt the main reason will be the graphical quality.
If people find convenience to be more important than the game itself they are not as into videogames as they'd like to think. They are more into doing stuff on subways. Of course there is nothing wrong with that. I have to wonder why they think their criticism(or lack thereof) could hold water though.Well, to a lot of people, yes?
This is what I am talking about. Nothing else needs to be said. You are just trying to play some spin for these businesses. It is annoying, stop that. I don't care what the companies do. I am just judging the results.I know it won't look AS good,
Every single one would be better on a console. There are plenty of amazing portable games out there.
Not only could they be done on a console, they would be best on a PC(or any other platform with a mouse, maybe Wii counts.) Touch screen is garbage compared to a mouse. (Though I have yet to play the newest Mario and Luigi. If it is anything like the older ones, then it could be done on anything.)ironically can't be done on the higher-up consoles as is.
What is your point? Everything is going to be weaker on weaker hardware. The games are entirely built on hardware. But I'm sure you understand that graphics are only a part of the "game" equation, and definitely not the most important part.
I don't really see how it's possible to disagree with almost everything that BRP is saying although I will profess my enjoyment for killing dragons on the bus.
I like killing dragons on the bus too Shiro. And staring at people.
I can agree with almost everything. However, convenience =/= some lack of desire to play. It's simply what is available to me the vast majority of the time. I just don't get the amount of time I'd like to play on my PC or consoles when classes roll around. As you said though, there's nothing wrong with that, so that's fine.
Also, I submit to you the idea that these games, since they do not always receive the same budget or the same amount of developing time, would not benefit from this more powerful hardware, simply because they would not be able to take advantage of it. They might actually look/play worse in some cases blown up on a TV or even on a monitor, depending on your setup/the dev's ability to use said hardware effectively. I wouldn't be surprised if VC 2 fell under this category.
Money does matter in this regard. KitN probably would never have existed if PC was the only option for Sting, same with M&L and Mother 3 for Nintendo. It's a shame, because PC usually does offer the best option as far as controls and graphics goes. But when it comes down to it, like I said, I'd prefer that these games exist rather than not.
What are you even talking about now? However, convenience =/= some lack of desire to play.
Is this suppose to make me feel bad for my harsh judgments or something? I don't see what you are trying to get at. New videogames are expensive to make(even expensive to play.) I speak with this already implied. Also, I submit to you the idea that these games, since they do not always receive the same budget or the same amount of developing time, would not benefit from this more powerful hardware, simply because they would not be able to take advantage of it.
If the games were aimed to be played on tvs/monitors they wouldn't need to be "blown up."
EDIT: You edited your post while I was posting. I will have to reread it.

I'm just saying that people who play portable games might only be able to play those portable games, due to lifestyle or w/e, and still want to play good games. That's all
Sorry for that, I was attempting to make it easier to understand, but it didn't work.
I'm just saying that if the game gets the budget and the care it needs, it will always look nicer and play better on more capable hardware. This is a point you made. This I totally agree with.
However, because most devs are often not given large budgets to work with, they often cannot take full advantage of the hardware, and thus no real gameplay is lost by putting it on "lesser" hardware. Like I said, it might even look worse. For example, I daresay several of those PC Popcap games (like Plants vs Zombies, which is awesome btw) could be done on DS right now and not lose much, if anything. Same for a lot of DS games and the Iphone.
Also, the other point I was trying to make, is that by giving devs the option to develop on these different platforms, these games are allowed to exist at all. I doubt KitN would exist if the DS did not exist. PC gaming is slim to none in Japan for whatever reason, and I seriously doubt a game like that would be given the time of day when there's no market to buy it. Even consoles aren't doing so hot. However, since so many people own a DS (or whatever system, take your pick), money is given to develop games like KitN and whatever else, and they turn out to be awesome as they are, despite limitations on said hardware. VC2 could be totally awesome despite being on PSP, and the reason why it exists at all might be because of the PSP.
I hope that's better, but if not, oh well.![]()
What I said had more to do with comparison. If they want good games, then they will seek out any good game that are available to them. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford to pay for such a wasteful hobby. I don't think the typical Iraqi's opinion on the Xbox360 is going to be very useful.I'm just saying that people who play portable games might only be able to play those portable games, due to lifestyle or w/e, and still want to play good games. Sure there is. You really can't see how games can be improved upon? Considering how underdeveloped videogames(in contrast to classic normal games) are and how easy they get upgraded from generation to generation, I don't see how you couldn't.However, because most devs are often not given large budgets to work with, they often cannot take full advantage of the hardware, and thus no real gameplay is lost by putting it on "lesser" hardware.
Whether the developers got a poor deal shouldn't matter to me. All I see is the final result. If they want to entertain me with their struggles on making the game, they could always write a book about it.
I understood this. What does it have to do with what I am saying? Also, the other point I was trying to make, is that by giving devs the option to develop on these different platforms, these games are allowed to exist at all.
Oh, I understand just fine. And I even agree. But that doesn't change the fact that most of these games I mentioned wouldn't be any different had they been developed for the PC or the DS. So nothing is lost.
Maybe it doesn't? I dunno. I just made the point in a previous post that if these games are allowed to exist and do prosper, maybe they'll be able to fund a bigger game later that takes more advantage of said hardware when it's easier to develop for (dev costs go down as the generation goes on), and be more like what you or somebody else wants. If they don't exist at all, nothing will change. VC will still be seen as an underperformer and the IP will not be pursued, so that game on that high-end console you wanted wouldn't have come to be anyway. So there's no point in lamenting on it.
Clearly you don't. Look, if you can't handle imaginary situations please don't bring them up. You are not doing either of us any favors.Oh, I understand just fine. And I even agree. But that doesn't change the fact
Is pointing out the difference between two videogames "lamenting?" If so not only do I see the point of it, but it is instinctual. So there's no point in lamenting on it.
